Guys, I am trying to filter out sideways markets for the BUY/SELL signals for my bots.. They do well when on a good trend but very bad on sideways. Any suggestions on how I can enable disable bots while it's on a sideways trend. Any other Indicators I could use other than that provided on the LUX package to do this? I am having a hard time filtering these out on a 5 MIN TF.

Those area's that you marked are for the most part below ADX 25, which usually indicates sideways movement perhaps you could go for 30+, it's a lagging indicator though, I'm just a noob making guesses btw so I don't know if this is any helpful

With respect to trend catcher/tracer alerts; should they trigger an alert if the candle has closed and there's been a positive/negative deflection? Seeing a lag of 2-3 candles before it triggers

apologies for the quality of the screen shot, but can't use the mac screenshot app and have the TV crosshairs; but you can see the trigger went at 13:16; but the uptrend started at 13:13 bar close (1m candles). Alert set for "Once per bar close". Not sure if intended behaviour or a bug

The alerts should trigger just fine without delay, note that the time in the alert log can sometimes differ from the time on the chart depending on the selected time zone 🙂

Being able to back test an algo trading method is essential - is there a way to access buy/sell signals in pine editor?

I'm going to ask a really frank question if that's ok - is the reason for that because of a lack of confidence in the results that back testing would show, possibility of underlying logic being exposed or for other technical reasons? As someone that is used to back testing strategies, its an awful lot of trust to put into the signals.

It's due to a massive massive collection of reasons:

1. to output these values we would need to use plots in TradingView which aren't available to us due to the number of features within the script
2. Outputing signal results gives totally useless data essentially. The confirmation signals aren't part of any strategy, no SLs or TPS or filtering methods like in my videos.
3. It draws way too much attention towards the signals of the system. Every feature in Lux is there for a reason and people obsess over % win rates (even if these were generated)

I've found the 5 minute signals somewhat inaccurate thus far. Do probabilities improve for 15 minutes or higher since there's more data? I realize that profit might still be higher at 5 minute just because of the increase in frequency of the trades (even if win rates are lower) but I'd rather have higher probabilities since I'm using option contracts with a 14-30 day horizon anyway. It's a hassle to get in and out of them because the spread isn't perfect.

It's like a "hey your trade is playing out stay in position" or it can act as a "hey the trend is going this direction, find a new entry on a lower timeframe"

I see. So really, it may be the contrarian strong signals that might be of greatest use in entering the actual trade since I want to anticipate the movement rather than wait for it to play out first.

At least, that's how I've usually traded and then I get out if I'm wrong.

They are different approaches, Optibot tests for both agility and sensitivity over 2000 candles whereas the dashboard only test sensitivity over a far smaller range. If you're looking for the best performance over 2000 candles you'll want Optibot

Sorry Guys, But I did try working with LUX but sadly it hasn't worked for me. I was over the moon when I saw LUX. Great concept but the signals are just too random and appear everywhere, Choppy markets especially. I trade mostly with bots and they don't agree running on LUX. The best part of LUX was the Institutional activity which helps people catch big moves. Other than that I found very little use for this. But anyways I guess if you are trading with it manually it may produce great results.

Not long ago, a Strong Buy alerted (see alert) and the icon was showing on my phone.

That totally depends on your approach, a more contrarian trading style will work very well in ranging assets while a trend following system will work on trending markets, you can eventually diversify using multiple high liquidity and uncorrelated stocks.

Is it possible to setup multi-conditional alerts? For example, maybe I want the moving average to be X, the RSI at Y, the price less than Z and only then to get an alert. All I can find in TradingView are single-factor alerts.

I'm also struggling to find more complex sell options in E-Trade. For example, I'd want to setup multi-factorial stop conditions based on not only indicators but price ranges. Perhaps I'd want a trailing stop % for an option (all E-Trade offers is a trailing $ amount which can't be combined with regular stop losses at specific values) but only while the stock is above a certain number. If it falls below that number, I want a tighter stop - perhaps with a specific value instead.

I'm finding all these tools really limiting so far and I don't know what platforms offer the power I want.

If you have 3 tabs open you can run into issues

It's not an indicator issue really; it's because it's a chunky script. The code is compiled server side when you run it. If you have 3 instances of the script open on separate tabs it could run into exec time issues since TV blocks after 200ms time
