It will always depends on the usage you make of the signals, but if you rely heavily on them then yes, it is a good thing to change the sensitivity when a new value is recommended, using optibot is also a good option, often more optimal.

Ranging market conditions will cause Confirmation signals to perform less good, that's why we have the dashboard & other tools to help you identify the market conditions

It's really about developing a strategy, trying to overfit signals to have them perfect and work alone just isn't possible and more confirmation is needed (hence the name). Optibot is just there to suggest nice settings for them to act as confirmation. We put a lot (if not most) of our development efforts into the other tools in the suite because they are just as important

It's a good point. So clearly here optibot has given higher settings. That means the signals will be less sensitive to price action. If your trading style prefers earlier price entries then these may not suit you. The higher sensitivity being used by optibot means the algo will stay in a position for longer and hold despite small price movements

but when I put the Dashboard recommended sensitivity it differs and gives better logical signals

both are indeed different, optibot will optimize both sensitivity and agility, while the recommended sensitivity only optimize sensitivity given the current agility value you are using, also optibot make use of 5000 bars for optimization, against 1000 for the recommended sensitivity. If you prefer recommended sensitivity then you can use that one 🙂

the one in optibot are result of optimization, that is returning the pair of setting that yield the most returns over a certain period of time (5000 bars), the autopilot (auto setting) adjust dynamically depending on the market conditions, optibot can be considered 'optimal' while the autopilot can be considered more convenient and potentially smarter.

its not contradictory, optibot will test for every combination of settings, its optimal in that sense, the auto setting will be convenient because you dont need to adjust the settings manually, it adjust automatically based on market conditions, if you rely a lot on signals optibot can be a better choice, if you use a strategy making use of many components but use the confirmation signals then using the auto settings can be better.

Loving the latest autopilot settings of 3.7.3 but I wonder if I can use them for back testing? For example, below are the last sell & buy signals on the 1D SPY, both are excellent! But autopilot used all the most recent candles in figuring this out so there's no guarantee that (assuming 3.7.3 existed a year ago & Lux was on autopilot) I would have seen these signals in Feb & April 2020. Am I thinking about this correctly? In other words, for back testing Lux signals, we shouldn't autopilot?

from what I understand, it seems you are wondering if the signals are plotted retrospectively in time, the response is no, if you have a historical signal the 02/06/2020 (for ex), then a signal would have indeed occurred the 02/06/2020, signals are in real time. Manual backtesting is totally possible with auto pilot 🙂

Awesome! So that autopilot signal on 2/6/2020 is not influenced by the candles that came after it (i.e. those candles weren't used to train autopilot into generating a signal on 2/6/20)

@azure island auto pilot is not like other optimization framework, it wont adjust based on maximising a certain function, that is testing every pair of settings, instead it make use of market dynamics to control the confirmation signal algorithm, for more info you can look at state space models and kalman filters as well as maximum entropy for dominant cycle period estimation, but its advanced.

Two questions. The first is why does the optibot show the btc sensitivity setting for 30m tf as 20 but the dashboard shows recommended as 11. Are those not in conflict?

Second question- can you help me understand why Lux sometimes paints a green candle over a red one? In other words, tradingview prints a red but Lux paints over it with green. I kinda get why you do that with the purple but showing a green candle over a red print seems strange. Assuming i just need to understand the reasoning behind it.

Hey, so I've created new setting with autopilot enabled, I then deleted all of my alerts and then added new alerts with the new settings saved and without changing it, I've received two alerts from Trading View but when I go to the chart there is nothing there, you can only see the first Strong Sell alert, the other two Strong Buy's don't appear but Trading View sent me alerts.

Before adding the new alerts, I had also removed Lux Algo as an indicator and added it afresh

Yep will look into it, however r it definitely shouldn't happen with regular confirmation signals using settings. Would recommend making note of any settings you have when you set alerts because they have to be exact

Example: Bulls by 20% = 80% bears

Bulls by 80% = 20% bears in control of the market

so 50% would be indicative of indecision

Just go on the pair of interest, use optibot settings, create the alert, then go to another pair and repeat the process, I know it's tedious, you can use all in one alerts to make this easier if you want to set one alert based on multiple signals conditions. Hi @limpid tundra yes it is correct and can be interpreted however you see -- for example, price may be down but since there are 60% bulls in control - it may be good to be cautious and potentially expect a move up regardless of the sell signal

Hello, I am curious how "autopilot confirmation signal settings" interacts with set alerts. From my understanding of TV alerts, it takes a "snapshot" of the indicator at the time the alert was set. And the autopilot settings change sensitivity everytime the chart is loaded correct? So if i went ahead and set alerts for a bunch of tickers, the sensitivity settings at the time I set the alerts will be saved and won't update automatically correct?

There's not really a best timeframe, it's all down to your style and experience, we generally recommend higher timeframes with Lux, but some of our users trade in lower tfs and are successful. You can however have a look on YouTube etc. to see if there are any scalpers that recommend certain timeframes with Lux.

If so, no you don’t 🙂 we set our 1,600+ alerts when V3 first came out, as long as the signals calculation doesn’t change you’re ok!
