a watchlist is simply a list of tickers, it doesn't create a new layout, to create a new layout click in the arrow at the top right corner of the chart, then click on new chart layout.

you wont need to update all your alerts for every new update of the lux main indicator, but in this case its better to set the alerts using the latest version of the indicator, it should correct any alert related bug, make sure to not use the "Only Use Real Closing Prices" when you set your alert.

Hello. I have tried to find this in the documentation, but have not found the explanations for the abbreviations e.g if i want an alert when a candle is crossing a resistance zone. Can you let me know what "Conf D, S" , "Cont D", "RZ R 1 -4" (I am assuming these are the resistance bands) and "SR 1 - 5" mean. Many thanks

the reversal zones plot names start with 'RZ', the reistances start with 'R', while the support start with 'S'. The RZ R4 is the highest band, while the RZ S4 is the lower one.

SR1 - 5 are the plots displayed by the support and resistance methods (only predictive S/R and predictive range plots), from 1 being the highest to 5 being the lowest in the case of the predictive range.

atm we focused on adding Indices and Futures, adding more stocks is something that will be done in the future.

optibot is optimized using the closing price as source, as such it won't be the same when using HA. Note that the optimal settings can change in the future, as such it is recommended to use optibot settings as a starting point, you can also look at the ranked settings and see if other ones are better.

not necessarily, it depends, I never use HA, it is true that they are less noisy thus making their interpretation easy, but its up to you to choose if it suit yr trading style.

the last signal on the last bar can disappear since its based on the closing price. You could try using a line chart set to display the opening price, that way the signal on the last bar will not disappear.

higher length values are used to trade longer term trends, so that would totally depend on the type of trend you want to trade 🙂 You can ofc filter out false signals using higher length values, but this will increase lag.

you can filter out false signals using other indicators in conjunction to the one you use to enter a position, for example you can filter out signals that occur during ranging market (the dashboard is showing ranging or the lux volatility is under 0.5 are examples of conditions to detect ranging markets)

Alternatively you can see if the price is close to the reversal zones or predictive range levels to check if a signal is not occurring too late, lets say you have a buy signal occurring when the price is close to the reversal zones or the upper level of the predictive ranges, in this case we could potentially expect the price to go against your signal, so you can either not trade it, or use a low position size.

TradingView has an API that can send a request to an endpoint you provide when it alerts a buy/sell signal. If I remember correctly, the field for this is right in the alert when you make one, so you've probably seen it before. So basically you'd set up a server to receive those requests, code it in whatever you're comfortable with. From there you have the buy and sell signals emitted by TradingView.

You'll need a broker that also offers an API so that you can relay these buy/sell signals to them from your server, after transforming the data into what they expect to recieve. Robinhood has an API that this is possible with. Not sure about others, you'll need to look into it but this is how it'd work on a high level

Probably! Anyone who advertises that they do any backend development should be able to without much difficulty. Only thing to figure out is

1. Does your broker offer a public API? If not, which ones do?
2. Does that API expose a way to send trades/orders to their platform?

The person you hire may be able to figure that out, but I'd look into it a bit first because they'll likely to charge you for a day of work to do that. Usually if the broker offers an API (which is just a way for outside code/programs to communicate with their platform in ways they allow) they'd have some documentation for it as well. But basically you're looking for a broker that offers an API, and from their api documentation it looks like that api allows you to place orders.

After looking again at Robinhood, it looks like their API is unofficial, in otherwords they don't support it. But someone figured out using their internal APIs instead in a hacky way that might not work as expected or forever

Looks like TDA would probably be a good option since you just need to be able to send buy and sell signals to your account and not do anything else crazy

More likely than not if you hired someone you'd need to give them access to your TradingView and brokerage account, but you can probably make new accounts for testing. And I'm not sure if TDA offers anything to make sure that things work without having to spend real money, I'm assuming they might allow you to try sending the trades as paper trades to test things

For running the bot, you would need to deploy it somewhere so that TradingView can send it the alerts. You might need to talk to the person doing it about authentication as well. Basically you'd need to make sure that it'll only listen to alerts being emitted from your tradingview account and not someone else (if they managed to figure out your bot's endpoint) who's sending it alerts telling it to sell all your stocks or something.

yes, but a manual backtest is only an heuristic approach, and does not take into account many variables. The best way to test a strategy is by using paper trading or by using very advanced backtesting procedures.

So those are variables added into the alerts. Since you selected Lux Algo "crossing" those appear. One is confirmation direction which returns 1 or -1 depending on the signal being buy or sell

And confS returns true or false for a signal being strong or not

Hi Alex, when I hover over the alerts, I can't see the individual settings for that ticker like you can. I can send you a screenshot of what I mean. Any help would be super appreciated. Thanks man

are you sure? You might need to wait some seconds before the window appear, make sure not to hover on 'edit' or 'remove', if thats not the problem then I don't know what could cause it 😦 Will try to see if there is another way to see the settings used by an alert.

Is there a chance that LuxAlgo will have a feature that auto selects best settings for each stock and time frame? Or will I have to keep manually changing settings to every stock and time frame

if tradingview had a way to do that we definitely would, but unfortunately its not possible at the moment 😦

If tradingview allows settings to accept external inputs from an API we could def set something up so that everyone is using the optimized settings, but that will just not happen

I see now, I apologise I forgot it only returned the alert name, when I set the alert name I generally add the settings I use so that I know what are the settings used by an alert (or I put them in the msg field). Well in that case you should keep these alerts if they are working for you

Oh okay, I totally got you. But to confirm, the alerts WILL actually be based on the settings that were in the Algo at the time of creation right? Cause when I click the alert it just goes to the chart, with whatever current settings that were on there

yes totally correct, once you create an alert it will be based on the settings used when you create it, changing the settings wont affect it. If you click on an alert it will get you to the ticker where you set the alert but will not change the settings of the indicator.

I have a question.... so when I create the alert like I have on QQQ for the 1 hr, but then I follow the directions again for a different ticker like SPY. I can't create the alert because I have the free version of tradingview.

You are unfortunately still limited to one alert condition per ticker, the new feature will only help get multiple conditions into one alert.

^ it makes the process faster and easier, allowing for more customization for when setting an alert, great for free TV users.

There won’t be a way to have one alert for multiple tickers, have to upgrade TradingView to do that. Just an easier setup & more customizability

What does the SR significance change, i noticed the numbers moved the support and resistance but does anyone know what it is actually doing? why does it change those levels

It changes the lookback on most things within the indicator

e.g. the higher it is the more major the structure

So for example a S/R sig of 9 is going to find the most major structures over more candles

and a S/R sig of 3 will find more recent ones
