everyone, remember that the lux volume profile has a lookback period of 500 bars, you might need to zoom out in order to perceive it. I also want to emphasis that volume profiles are generally calculated using tick data, ours don't and yet give a very good estimate as you can see in the image above (tradingview fixed range vp in red with same lookback).

Correct. This probably has to do with TV. They impose quite a lot of restrictions on what indicators are allowed to do. So this is probably the only way to provide this service.

I think the most fascinating bit of the optibot stuff (thanks lux for implementing) is the agility tends to be a lot higher then what I've observed people quoting as settings they use

just shows everyone uses lux differently, what works for some isn't optimal for others

also confirms my biases to how I use lux with sensitivity in the 100s and agility close to 100

Yes, the optibot seems to favour longer trades, thus the higher values. Would be nice if they had 2 flavours, a scalping version and a intra/swing trading version with values optimized for each.

@frank mesa you can see the settings i use in the screen shot. Looking at the signals and other indicators, can see it's not too bad for picking entries. I take 30-35 points as a TP with large lot sizes to make it worth it.

It’s a 2:1 yes you can say it’s not valid but with a very high win rate I’m not worried about a valid r to r and here’s why. You have two choices , you can either have a good risk to reward ( 1:2 ) with a low win rate and still be profitable OR you can have a super high win rate with a bad risk to reward and still be profitable

I use the second one and its profitable I have no complaints... but thanks for the concern been doing this for years

I don't think the Optibot is going to help much due to the fact that most people will find it difficult to build a trading strategy around these settings

these are the latest signals for AAPL based on Optibot settings

if you traded by taking the signal based on a break of high/low and having your stop loss be the high/low of signal candle then these are losses

optimisation in most backtesting softwares will be done though a simple brute force approach, thats what we do, as such overfitting can clearly occur, optibot is still meant to act as a guidance, if we see optibot works a lot in the future we might consider implementing more robust procedures that would minimise overfitting.

Yea I noticed that as well. For example, the NZDUSD recommendation for s:11 and a:58 on a 30 minute timeframe is accurate, but the recommendation for GBPUSD at s:28 and a:21 works better better on a 2HR timeframe rather than the suggested 30 minute timeframe. There were others too, and yea in some instances the default works better. I just have been playing around with the settings myself to make them more optimal. Another thing I can say, if any one hasn't mentioned it yet or noticed, during areas of consolidation, I would not take the signal suggestion unless there's a current breakout trend. There is another signal indicator in Trading View that does the same thing. It's valid, but not necessarily through areas of consolidation or key areas, which we also know price can reverse or break through.

its important to remember that optibot will optimise settings over the most recent 5000 bars, as such signals previous to these 5000 bars might not be the best, in any case optibot will always select the settings that generated the highest returns over any combination.

I personally don't have a favourite. I just look at the indicators and signals(RSI, Oscillator, Lux and how big the price movements are) and decide if I should enter a position.
