it was indeed. when I was drifting away and I had a bad week or a bad few days, I would backtest again to see how the trades would have went if I followed the strategy

Like I went through gold as well and figured out I can actually trade 5 contracts on gold rather then 3 and still would never hit max drawdown on a 150k account max drawdown was 3.9k but I was almost able to double my contracts which was sweet lol

Trades go into the 300's never hits more then the og 3.9k

Idk I think the backtesting strategy is also humbling because it shows you how hard it is to build a long term strat and makes you come face to face with drawdowns. I use the lux algo backtester often because it honestly incorporated a lot the reason why I couldn't use it on my strat because it wasnt a set tp or sl as well as a retest off of a HMA

Hey there and welcome what you can do is research online such as babypips.com or your Forex broker website as as they should have learning sections within their website as well

Different fx pairs, react differently to each News release

You would also have to know the Geo politics for these FX pairs if you want to go deeper

For me and my scalping, I watch the US dollar index for correlation on certain pairs

Its good, the key there is, not the open range bracket, which some traders think its just 50/50 gamble, or whatever.
But with Signals and Overlays, it gives you a reason, gives you a validating reason to take a side, to take a direction. Mechanical decision. and that is the edge....

Yeah I agree I was able to make the connection yesterday like I see a lot with @main kiln 's strat which is one I think you use as well you guys use multiple indicators to support your decisions I think he adds it up like a percentage each indicator pointing in a direction or giving a signal counts as 20 as an idea for price moving in a direction. Using a Swiss army knife indicator as well as the Opening range to break out of gives people the opportunity to support their entry.

The more confluence the more strength of a trend IMO

There are ways to do it depending on the overlays. Some overlays it can be done - like neo cloud or smart trail, but with the trend catcher / tracer there are limitations on what you can do.

With Neo and ST you can check for switching up/down, bullish/bearish using one of the external conditions. For TT/TC, there is a workaround for switching up/down and you can tell if it's sloping down/up - but it is just about impossible to determine bullish/bearish when the line is flat.
