I am just a n00b here, but I am on the 5 minute tf forward testing lux, and it's my opinion you need a couple things down here:
A - a quick way to get limit order in - if you can't, then market buy slippage and fees will kill you. As well, you need to set your tps at the same time you place the orders.
B - you must use more than 1 or 2 features of Lux, and have strategy rules you follow religiously
Review my chart this morning:

2 - bad
3 - bad
4 - bad
5 - bad
6 - bad
7 - good
8 - good

I am still working it out

For 5 minute, I think you should be in profit, stop at break even or stopped out in loss within 3 or 4 candles. (aka a 15 min candle)

tradingview makes it pretty simple if you connect your broker

Stop loss is directly related to how big your order is. You should decide on a pattern or indicator, or just reading the chart, the place where you know you are wrong, there's a mistake, and its not coming back. Set that as your stop. Then decide how much you are willing to lose, what the risk is. If you are starting out, go as low as 0.5% Most people do not risk more than 5% (My 5% stop losses are when I am super 100% sure its going to go my way.

For example, here, there is a strong signal, eq zone and neocloud agree. If it fails, below that wick would be a place that the move failed. Using the tradingview long tool, you can see that is -0.4% So if you went 1x, and you got stopped out, you'd lose .4% of your account. So if you wanted to risk 1%, you go around 2x for that trade.

Yes, no indicator is a buy/sell signal machine that will work on low time frames, all of them are influencers of your bias, nothing more. Its hard for brand new people to see the example of strategies videos and not wonder "how can we not just print money?" You have to learn about yourself, your mindset, then the high time frames, then the low time frames

Is there something in Lux that is indicative of the money flow index?

5 min TF and less are misleading, mate. cause you cannot see the big picture. the chances you take a deal in a retracement and trend continues are very high

better check multiple timeframes and then pick a lower one for deciding your entry

in your case, maybe a combination of 1-2HRS for trends and 15 min for entries should do the trick

also, check what JD said above about risk management

no good plan for that will wreck your bank roll in no time

Yes, I firmly believe you need to know where you are getting out before you get in, win and lose.

it depends, you can move your stop loss as the trend continue to take a maximum of it, sometimes take profit cut a big win

I do it like this:
My stop loss in loss is locked; Never will I ever move or remove my predetermined stop (In loss)
The first take profit is usually pretty close, 2xATR, or a lux Ranges line. Usually around 50-60% comes out of the trade. When this TP is triggered, my stop goes to break even. So I get the gains locked in.
The second take profit I will adjust the amount, either the last 40%, or 30% if it looks like it might run. I move my stop to the first take profit if this gets triggered.
If it is a runner, I will let that last 10% go, or take it out, depending on what I see on higher time frames. But really, on 5 or 15, in and out many times for a little bit is king - compounding interest.

Either way, I have those levels before I open the trade, that is what I meant by knowing where to get out, win or lose

fixed value of 1%

so it's a nice way to stay in deal to the max or make sure you always close all your TP's in profit

unless a major price breakthrough occurs, in which case there's nothing you can do

an aggressive and fast paced slippage can hit a SL even though your price was good before issuing the sell/buy order

yes exactly, it depends on the situation if it's slow with no volume, small scalp with tp, if big trend, i try to not take profit and move my stop loss. That's a psychology fight in my case but i'm getting it

It is the tags for the alerts. When you are setting the alert, select "crossing" (or crossing up/down) then the next drop down will have the option for neo Lag/Lead

Ah I'm afraid this isn't possible. This would be something you would need to process and programme externally currently

You'd need to send an alert to a server whenever the MACD crosses and maintain its state as a variable

piece of advice: when unsure, look on the smallest TFs for any proof of the contrary

if you see an exception, then you need to look for something else

the lower the TF, the higher the chances to see all possible combinations or variations

visually, no need to dig too deep

Yea its for a strategy concept we have backtested many times with 90% winrate, just needed to put alerts for it so i don't have to go through 35 pairs all the time

if all good, move to 35 pairs

like you said, if there is one thing I hate more than anything with TV is having to redo 10+ alerts

because the first one was wrongly set lol

Here is a little trick if you are trading more than 1 asset at a time. Instead of changing the optimization from one ticker to the other, you can adjust the settings for that particular symbol and save it as a new template. Next time when you click the template, the settings will be automatically adjusted.

You can already do this 🙂

It's just that most traders should understand what they are looking at

Sending an alert to a user saying "hey maybe reversal" is not going to help them long term at all. Probably will be very very bad for their trading journey

Takes 5m maximum to understand those and then you can set alerts on them; sit back and wait for the notification

And now when the notification is recieved the trader understands what they are alerted to 👍

It's also very user specific; for one user a reversal might be when a new confirmation signal occurs [by the time this appears the trend has already changes].

For another user they may want to use contrarian alerts which are of course going to be less accurate but will alert before trend actually reverses

Trading is a mental game, you need to desensitize yourself from the money. I have done this for a very long time and when I started out in the 30-year bond trading pit (I know I am old) at the CBOT it was gladiator warfare to make money. I took many lumps, but finally I started to just trade, not think about everything else, but just about the market. Your emotions are a defense system your brain puts in place to protect you. Keep it simple, trust me its the best way, I use price action, market structure and a moving average, finally of course I love Lux, its an added confirmation. I trade futures ES, NQ, ZN, CL. I had to make the switch from pit trading to electronic to survive, volume dried up in pits back in early to mid 2000's. I went from a 100 lot SP pit trader (100 Full SP=1,000 ES lots!!!!!) to being a 10+ lot ES electronic trader and I make more money now because I make better trades and have time to take the right trades. Point is, control emotions, learn about market structure, take your time. There is no get rich quick in trading.

depends on what you are looking for. Optibot will return the settings giving the most precise signals, but requires adjusting them daily/updating alerts, on the other hand autopilot adjust the signals algorithm based on market conditions and does not require any adjustments.

Don’t blindly trust any signal, risk accordingly and search for confluence of many. That’s why lux is a big pack that you can suit to your trading style!

Search for confluence of buy/sell signals, support/resistances, ema’s, fibs and oscillators, if you find several signals saying smthing then you go for it, but using a coherent ammount and a proper exit/invalidation plan

I read your rant and you are correct, they need to learn trading, let me say that again 'LEARN HOW TO TRADE'. learn about indicators, even if you do not use them know what they do, how they work, what situations they could be good for. Learn market structure, price action, sell/buy side liquidity. But instead of doing that all I see 100 times a day is 'I bought this and why isn't it printing money, it must not work'; it's not Lux or another indicator its the trader. Look in the mirror and say did I do everything I could, did I back test, did I watch the market move on a chart for 10,000 hours because trust me if they had they would see its a living thing that gives itself away showing you where its headed, that's a huge edge.

I will continue a bit into my story. I stood on the top step of the largest trading pits, IT IS HARD, VERY HARD. And I had every advantage getting all the orders as a local from brokers, it was gladiator warfare and I loved it everyday. I got first crack at huge broker orders coming into the pit and then could scratch off some to other traders; I got to choose who the chosen ones were. I could feel the market moving in the pit, it gave a sense of direction. It was an awesome time of wealth and prosperity. Then the day came that I knew I had to leave the floor, I was off to my office and thought I will just hop on the computer and make money again. NOPE!!!!!! $5,000 loss, $10,000 loss, $50,000 loss, WTF is going on. The next week I thought maybe it was just a run of bad days, $100,000 loss every freaking day. Seriously WTF. Finally after a couple months and a TON of money lost I stopped and said this is different, I need to learn this, I need a teacher, I need to learn a new strategy. First off electronic trading evens the playing field for the most part. In the pit everybody wanted to trade with topstep guys, its where the money was, on a computer its orderly, if I placed order after you then you get filled first, it was not that way in pit. Second, there were a lot more players trading online, in pit 900 traders; big fish in small pond and now I'm fish in big pond trying to find my way. I spend a ton of time reading books, watching the market, testing ideas, talking with other traders who were also doing the same things. An amazing thing happened, I learned it, I figured it out and now I'm a better trader and make more with less time spent, less stress, more time with family, more time to enjoy life. But the journey was hard, there is no fast money in trading.
