I’ve been looking at the 5min ORB lately. The look back for the 6:00pm open is 🔥. Once the 5min candle closes I switch to the 1min. I wait for candle close above or below ORB and then take the trade when it taps the ORB again. SL below the bottom/top ORB. Take profit at the 50% level of the range. There was one time in the month of June it didn’t reach 50%. I do 3hrs a day. Opening bell 3:00pm and 6:00pm. I’m using Lux ORB.

This is a real challenge for me. I see the osc matrix warnings and it can stop me from entering or I exit too early. I let go of a lot of runners today because of how bad the grind beat me up early this week.

So my goal with this chart is to prepare to go full bore with size on these and other confirmations so I get my win early when the liquidity and flow is easier to deal with….but maybe I should be patient and react to what the market shows me instead of forcing my trade plan on the market

Here are a couple of things I learned: look at the boxes of 30 (1 min ) candles. Institutions are confusing us and wearing us up with chop…but at the end of many of these periods the base isn’t contested…..that’s what almost the whole week was about. It wasn’t until someone really pointed that out to me and then I started trading on that…knowing of course this was subject to change as well.

The next is the IB breakdown. The problem with ORB to IB is that once IB is set….it’s more than likely to do a mean reversion to reestablish balance before the market makers plot the next move/battle. That is where I am legit ready to close out the trade because of anxiety and panic. This market is no joke. Liquidity can vanish and then we have only ourselves to blame for the decisions we make.

Both are important . But there is the opening range drive, opening range break and the initial balance, the IB either extends or reverts…depending on the range of the opening.

Nixed Power hour in favor of ORB 5. Interesting in that neo cloud 5 flips at the orb5 signal.

I wonder if setting session start to 9:15 would be betters for the sessions vwap….like a solid soft start to give the vwap some time to spool up…

The invalidation signal is whether or not initial balance is greater than 30 pts. If IB is greater than that then it’s likely that price will revert and seek a bit of balance.

I use the 5 min candle to set the ORB. Then I go to the 1min candle for entry. Once it closes above/below the ORB I take the trade on the retest. TP is 50% of the ORB SL is a few ticks down from the upper or lower ORB depending on the direction I took. I trade the open each night, the NY open and 3:00pm STD.
