so i have been going through all these different options strategies on youtube and when I simulate what could happen if i implement the specific scenario, I usually see something like max profit is say for example $350 and then my max loss is like $500 if thinks go above and maybe $800 if they go below.
The key takeaway is that I am always risking a max profit that is always less than the potential loss. I am wondering if that is the way it is or if i am doing something wrong.

I basically get all the relevant facts and then tell chatgpt to run all the possible scenarios that could happen and it is always like ideal situation you win X dollars, but if it goes outside the range you set above you lose 2X and if it goes below your range you lose 3X.

Not just any futures.
Index or indices are a basket of stocks.
Options copy stocks.
Futures are bundles of stocks in one basket.

Index trading is better because of the momentum and the fact that each candle in futures is FAR more profitable than a single candle in NVDA or Tesla or Meta.
It’s like trading ALL TECH STOCKS at once and being reward at once

The basic answer is Futures are far more easier to get into.

No YouTube video will give you the exact wisdom you will learn than trying all by yourself, don't get me wrong they help but not to the level where you are competing with institutions. Use CME website they are literally the exchange and they have all your questions answered. Everyone on here has their bias and perspective, take it as perspective. Test out all your hypothesis, and form a conclusion. This is how I became profitable and figured out my edge in this competitive space.

In what way am I and the institutions competing with each other? They are buying and selling and I am buying and selling. so how do we bump heads?

Market Makers need YOUR liquidity to fill large orders..but it's over simpliffying things, they need everyones liquidty.

You are but a spec of sand and they have sand castles to build

The idea is to try and follow along with their liqduity needs. That's the entire concept of being a profitable retail trader

just looking at NQ you can see where the buying liquidity stopped, that large order block was kind of a like a "save point" by market makers. They SOLD off a ton of stuff but bought NQ futures as on the way down

Where the "bumping heads" comes in is if you were for sure that everything "should" be going up and then tried to out live the liquidty fill

it could go on for some time, normally when a retail trader runs out of money

It is your job to flow with the aggressiveness and not to go against the market. You can partispate as a passive investor, where they sit at price level to either buy or sell there.
