Question for any of you that are full time traders:

When you meet new people in life, and they ask you what you do for a living, what do you tend to tell them? Do you say trader, investor, self-employed, or something else?

I ask, because personally, I don’t know what to say. I tend to tell them that I worked in IT for 25 years, but I don’t exactly want to tell them that I left my career because of investment success. It’s just more comfortable not having that conversation.

So I tend to say that I’m self-employed and operate multiple businesses from home, which is true. But I tend to shy away from saying things like trading stocks…personally.

Yeah, I think part of the reason that I avoid speaking on trading specifically is because that it may it be perceived as taboo or gambling in the eyes of others. I've found that 99% of people are more conditioned to thinking that you must have a job, working for someone else, and not so conditioned to thinking like an enterpeneur. So, its hard discussing the topic of what I do for a living with people who think differently than I do. But, when I do find someone who thinks like an entrepeneur, that's when it becomes a really fun conversation.
