Question – so upon trade entry, I have been looking to set TP at 2:1…once I get to 1:1, I move stop to BE+ a tick or two to cover fees…then god willing at 2:1, I move stop up to 1:1, and so on…however, I am finding that once I get beyong 1:1, move stop to break even, price has often moved back down to BE stop, blipping me out…so question is, in the long run, it seems like if you have initial 1:1 winners which you let come back on you and get stopped out at BE+, then you fold in your inevetible losers, this seems to skew the strategy performance against you…bc if you had just taken the 1:1’s you come out ahead with a strategy with moderate win rates…however, taking every 1:1 you miss out on the big runners…just wondering if others have run into this quandry, and how have they mitigated it…this is all in light of moderate win rates, which I suspect is the majority of strategies that fall into the first few standard deviations of win rate results that can be garnered with retail approaches, IT/data infrastructure, whether using indicators, algorithms, PAC, etc…(I am admittedly not in the tranch of those with seemingly perfect six sigma win rate results)

This is just a thought and reasoning. Why move your SL? If you were willing to get into the trade with a set SL and willing to take that SL, then why move it? Let it breathe. If your moving the SL, that means you are not believing in your strat that you backtested it with the performance.

Moving the SL after a certain TP can be good as well. It is what your backtest showed you, that's all that it is.
Backtest both scenarios: 1) Set SL and dont move it. 2) Move SL after 1:1 hit , or some combination.
