#What are your filming with?

I’m currently using my iPhone 16 Pro Max for recording talking head videos, plugged into OBS as a camera source. I’m happy with the quality, but it’s a bit finicky. For this, I would love to upgrade it down the line, but not in a rush.
For outside purposes, I’m using a GoPro Hero 13 Black. It does well for both talking to the camera and onride footage, but kinda lackluster in darker environments (like dark rides at amusement parks).
This is one I’d either like to upgrade or get something else on the side for those purposes, maybe one of those DJI’s or an actual ‘proper’ camera.
But that’s all future talk, first I should keep this creation stuff up 😅
phone
I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S10 as my primary camera and a Maono wm620 wireless mic setup. I have two other phones I can use for b roll etc. but they each have their quirks. I also have an Akaso Brave 7 LE action cam. A friend bought me a gimble as a gift but I have not found a need for it...
I have some Canon SL2's, but honestly, the Elgato Facecam and Elgato Facecam Mk2 are way more than enough for talking head stuff at your desk. They look great, have excellent controls and don't cost as much as a camera. And your audience won't know the difference.
I'm currently using a Canon R100 for my facecam. with a canon 16mm F2.8 lens. Nothing out of this world, but previously i was using a GoPro Hero 7. which was great, but they need LOTS of light and I couldn't handle the bright lights in my face any longer. I also have a Nikon D3300 with plenty of lenses. I also have 2 modded gopro hero 3's as well
Nice all.
I'm filming all my "long" videos with a GoPro 12 and sometimes a GoPro 10. I do most of my "shorts" with my iPhone 11 Max Pro.
I edit shorts with YouTube's editor. I do very little to them.
I edit my main videos with DaVinci Resolve which is so awesome. I mainly film raw (no scripts) and a very light editing style (just mainly transitions). It works for me and it's free.
I'm pretty happy with my setup.
How does the Mk2 compare to the original facecam? I have the original 1080p version, but that one seemed to have a more grainy output due to the light situation in my room. So I’ve been hesitant on getting the mk2.
My phone did handle the light in my room a whole lot better, which is why I made that change. But for normal streaming stuff, I would still use the old facecam… if only I’d stream 😅
I’m currently using my iPhone 15 Pro Max for almost all of my streaming/video recording except when I need some extra camera angles I have an Insta360 X2.
I'm using a Sony ZV-E10 as my main camera, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra for alternate camera angles. I'll also occassionally use a DJI Osmo pocket. But I want to get an action camera, not for action but close ups in awkward locations where a small camera is best suited.
This is all for woodworking BTW just in case you had weird thoughts about an awkward location 😆
I would just look at reviews online and see how folks setup and light compares to your to make that decision.
I was just wondering whether you noticed a significant improvement over the original facecam since you have both, I'm not planning to upgrade just yet as I have a working setup now 😄
Nice!
Seriously, I was shooting short films on iphone 11 + gimble
iPhone 16 pro max with gimble, Canon R10 and Obsbot meet 2 4K. I have had the elgato facecam (1st gen) it was ok but the software was very buggy and the insta360 link worked fine for about 6 months then out of the blue started lagging badly and it would make my whole pc lag if it was just plugged in.
I have now just added a new addition to my film gear. I got an Insta 360 Ace Pro 2, which I've been using this morning and I like it.
I don't do alot of Irl recording but when I do I love my dji osmo pocket 3. It might be because I am a noob with cameras but I love its auto face tracking and its easy sync up with the dji mics.
I am contemplating the purchase of an Insta 360 Go 3s for it's POV capabilities and the 4k upgrade, but it is a big investment for a non monetized channel 😟 It's in my cart with a PrimeDay price but that's still a lot of money for me right now...
I've done mine on finance over a couple of years with a UK store. It makes it very affordable. The camera itself is great
Right on, I try to pay in full. My Dad instilled the belief that "if you can't pay cash for it, you can't afford it", and it has served me well. I have a few ideas including creating content by fixing a pair of matching vintage Honda scooters I have, then selling them to finance the camera and more...
Talking head is an fx-30 with a sigma 18-50. On the go is a mix but mostly an Osmo 3.
I mostly do gaming content, so it's just screen recorded using obs. Sometimes I need a webcam tho, and I use my phone (iphone 16 pro max). It's actually a good hack if you dont have a webcam, since you can use your phone with the Iriun Webcam app
