#Suggestion to Channels descriptions
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I think this idea could be very good, like what you do in #creations-discussions but for all channels
will bring it up (i might forget)
I removed my pins of the channels as I thought it was a bit intrusive considering I'm not staff nor announcer anymore, sorry guys
But proper staff can make them again
For example, for #pvz-chinese-games i was thinking
#pvz-chinese-games Guidelines:
- #1164920420617703424 is where you can download Chinese PvZ games and other content related to them.
- https://discord.com/channels/638039933457793025/1121484252454846484 is a thread where you can upload your Creative Courtyard levels!
- #pvz-cn-announcements is where you can receive news about the current official games!
- #pvz-datamining-discussions is where you can discuss datamined content, leaks and the like.
- #pvz-mods-discussion is for Chinese PvZ mods discussions.
- #pvz-misc-fangames is for Chinese PvZ miscellaneous content (check the channel) discussions.
and so with every channel where they would have their own guidelines
@hazy jacinth Thoughts on this for that channel? and this idea in general

(Flag don't kill me please)
That sounds like a good idea to me. I think people often ignore channel descriptions AND pins about equally, so choosing the option that's more clear (pins) seems great.
They ignore everything indeed but my idea is mostly so channel descriptions doesn't get saturated
We can already do it for the chinese channel to try. That channel's description is already short.
The only problem I can see with this is that, if we pin another message, then the guidelines will be further down the list of pins.
Oh, right
I mean is that much of a problem?
People will have to ohhhhhh scroll
(scary)
Unless you maintain that guideline always at the top
Pinning anything and then the guideline
I could do that. For the chinese channel, it's mainly just the weekly gacha and happy vasebreaker that are pinned regularly.

About the other channels, they can follow a similar thing
But that's up to the rest of the staff willing to do this
aaannnnddd of course I do not have perms to modify the chinese channel, but I can do some of the others for some reason?? I don't get it.
Legit, the gear icon to modify the channel does not appear for #pvz-chinese-games, but for most of them it does.
Could you ask to give yourself the Admin role and try with that
If that doesn't help yeah you should ask them to recheck that
Lazy ass staff...
I just checked to see and giving myself Admin does allow me to modify the other channels, but I don't know if I'm allowed to, I'll ask the others.
I mean, you're supposed to have that role
But still
This server perms are a nightmare
It's like 2C
it doesn't matter at all, you’re literally a higher rank
Well there's clearly something preventing me from modifing some specific channels.
But then why did giving myself Admin work??
only general is off limits for obvious reasons
🤷♂️
I suggested someone with the true admin role to recheck all the permissions of this server
When I was staff
No one listened

Anyways
You could always give yourself the role, make the change and remove the role

I don't know it got ignored
I changed the description for #pvz-chinese-games
I started with pvz chinese chat and pinged you because you're active here the most
and I know you
and you're an Owner
hehe you're an Owner Flag
!!?

Well now you have to pin this, before doing it
Anything to change?
I mean since you will pin it you can adjust it to the circumstances in the future
:>
I think "share" is better than "upload" for the Creative Yard levels
Message has been pinned
You're welcome
Take care of it please
If there are changes that concern those rules change them and such

#pvz-3 Guidelines:
- #1164920420617703424 is where you can download the game.
- #pvz-announcements is where you can receive news about the game!
- #pvz-datamining-discussions is where you can discuss datamined content, leaks and the like.
- #pvz-misc-fangames is for PvZ miscellaneous content (check the channel) discussions.

Made one for #pvz-3
Added
I love u flag

Oh the Answer link is wrong
There, if you can replace it
It's missing the "-en" at the end xd
Fixed
Thank you!
I will make one for #pvz1-pvz2 later today or tomorrow

btw Flag I think I expressed myself badly but the channels can have a minimum description like "Chat for PvZ3, check pins for guidelines"
Let's say what the channel is for it goes in the description, everything else can go in pins
Sorry if I wasn't clear
Oh I see
You understand?
It would be weird if the description was just "check pins for guidelines"
😅
Same with #pvz-chinese-games, it could be something like "Chat for Chinese Plants vs Zombies games, check pins for guidelines"
I'm one step ahead of you
also I fixed the permissions for that channel so now I have access to it
Flagcado Avocado

As you SHOULD smh

Oh actually #pvz-heroes one could be similar
#pvz-heroes Guidelines:
- #1164920420617703424 is where you can download the game.
- #pvz-announcements is where you can receive news about the game!
- #pvz-datamining-discussions is where you can discuss datamined content, leaks and the like.
- #pvz-misc-fangames is for PvZ miscellaneous content (check the channel) discussions.

- Require support about the game: https://help.ea.com/
There, I only had to change the answer link
and ofc the channel which the guideline is for
PvZ Heroes, Shooters and PvZ 1 don't have a separated category for them, it's just "Other Plants vs Zombies Games" lol
Only PvZ2 and 3 have one
Done as well
The season thing in the channel description idk if it It has to go, Healena used to update it with the seasons of the game but she doesn't do it anymore
So it's outdated
I don't know when the seasons resets and I don't think it's really necessary.
Actually, I can just copy the dates from the Heroes server
I mean you will have to update every time tho
I don't know how seasons work on Heroes
They just end every few months
#pvz1-pvz2 Guidelines:
- #1164920420617703424 is where you can download the games.
- #pvz-announcements is where you can receive news about the games!
- #pvz-datamining-discussions is where you can discuss datamined content, leaks and the like.
- #pvz-misc-fangames is for PvZ miscellaneous content (check the channel) discussion.
- #pvz-mods-discussion is for mods discussion about the games.
EA Links: - Feedback, support, report, discussions in general about the game:
- For Plants vs Zombies 1: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-Plants-vs-Zombies-Games/bd-p/PvZ
- For Plants vs Zombies 2: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Plants-vs-Zombies-2/bd-p/PvZ2
- Require support about the games: https://help.ea.com/
The channel desc could be "Chat for Plants vs Zombies 1 and 2, check pins for guidelines"
Since that chat only cover PvZ1 and 2
Done
I didn't put the Chinese chat in those guidelines because the name of the channel is self explanatory
or at least that's how I see it
#pvz-chinese-games is the Chinese counterpart of #pvz1-pvz2 and #pvz-3

and thank you Flag, again!
I don't think people are gonna be that stupid, right?
Right?

For #pvz-datamining-discussions I was thinking
"For datamining and leaks about official PvZ Games (betas, upcoming content, updates, etc). Check pins for guidelines." as the channel description and for the pins
#pvz-datamining-discussions guidelines:
- Datamining mods, fake content are forbidden.
- Gameplay discussion belongs to the respective channels.
and when you pin it Shero's message will appear under this so everything will be tidy hehe

#pvz-misc-fangames could be "Channel dedicated to PvZ offshoots (e.g. PvZ-Match), Fangames and related, PvZ Comics, PvZ Plushies and some other topics of community related stuff/videos. Check pins for download links and guidelines."
and the pins be
#pvz-misc-fangames Guidelines:
- If you want more fangames check #1164920420617703424.
- Mods discussion (such as PvZ1 Hybrid and PvZ2 Mods) goes to #pvz-mods-discussion.
- Advertisement is not allowed, except fangames and plushies.

Today I'm inspired

As always, this is subject to change if staff decides to change them or if a point gets added/deleted
Oh yeah I forgot
- Discussions about official plants vs zombies games goes in their respective channel.
idk if it's "in" or "on"
Isn't it "go"
Discussions about official plants vs zombies games go in their respective channel.
Ah, I'm kinda silly
Another point could be
- PvZ1 Fusion is a Fangame, so it's correct to use this channel.
As Hybrid and Fusion get confused a lot
Fusion is a Fangame and Hybrid is a mod

Aight
No no it's all good, this is pretty simple stuff
#gw1-gw2-bfn is next and that should be all, for now
#gw1-gw2-bfn Guidelines:
- #1164920420617703424 is where you can download the games.
- #pvz-announcements is where you can receive news about the games!
- #pvz-datamining-discussions is where you can discuss datamined content, leaks and the like.
- #pvz-misc-fangames is for PvZ miscellaneous content (check the channel) discussions.
EA Links: - Feedback, support, report, discussions in general about the games: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-Plants-vs-Zombies-Games/bd-p/PvZ
- Require support about the games: https://help.ea.com/
The channel desc can be left like it is right now adding "Check pins for guidelines" at the end

@jagged trellis since you have pins in #pvz-mods-discussion maybe you can make one saying that Fusion is a fangame and should be discussed in #pvz-misc-fangames
Check this thread for context
You need to organize the pins there too lol the download links there with #1178308476297035888 existing and such
#ignored
Flag
Could you add this note at the end of the pins in #pvz1-pvz2 and #pvz-3
Note: this doesn't include Chinese games, fangames and mods!

So people don't use EA links for that lol
Done

in the #pvz-misc-fangames pins the "if you want more fangames check #1164920420617703424" replace "fangames" with just "games" to consider pvz match too
Done

Hmm
Maybe the mods part can be more generalized and just say "If you want to talk about mods, PvZ2 modding, check PvZ-Modded category!"
So it makes them aware of the other channels

@hazy jacinth
Hum?
.
So replacing "#pvz-mods-discussion is for mods discussion about the games." with "If you want to talk about mods/PvZ2 modding, check PvZ-Modded category!"
Yeah, what do you think, would make people see the other channels
As the whole category is for pvz2 mods except #pvz-mods-discussion which is for any mods
Sure
Hum, I don't think so
Aight
I made one for #addendum-discussions
The desc could be "Chat for the PvZ2 mod: Addendum"
and the guidelines could be:
- If you want to receive news about the mod, check #addendum-announcements
- If you want to be pinged for news, check
React here if you would like to be pinged for future polls, which are exclusive to Addendum and its design decisions, small updates and potential teasers.
[Go to message!](#addendum-announcements message)
@stark hearth
For context
I forgot the "Check pins for guidelines" at the end of the desc
What do you think tho
Take your time
Hmm
Flag
I was thinking that #pvz1-pvz2, #pvz-chinese-games and #pvz-3 could use "Official" in their descriptions
So people don't try to put mods and fangames there
I don't know why I didn't think of it before
Where would the word go?
The way descriptions are I guess before the game/s tittle?
Official Chinese Plants vs Zombies...
Official Plants vs Zombies...
Fortunely shooters and heroes doesn't need this
At least that's what I think
Done
I don't see why not
Aight
I think that would make it clear that they are channels for official games without a doubt

What is #1277790562812166246 supposed to be
No idea
Ah
So
I was thinking
What if PvZ1 Fusion, even if it is a fangame, could be discussed in #pvz-mods-discussion
To avoid fuss because I see people get so confused on which channel to use
It would not be correct but it would be convenient for the organization
🤷♂️
Some don't know it's a fangame lol
@spare surge What do you think about this idea in particular, I'm sorry for pinging you again but you know best
This wouldn't be a problem if both channels were the ones merged together instead of misc
Just merge fangames with mods channel
I’m against that for very obvious reasons.
But it is a recurring problem lately
People is not well informed about the situation
People always confuse fangames with mods.
People still ask about shooters in Chinese games every now and then.
I didn't see that...
Hybrid thank god is a mod and doesn't cause problems but Fusion oh god...
Ban the discussion of it entirely
(jk)

Even worse, we’re approaching a point where fangames look identical to vanilla games.
Flag could you perhaps add a new item here saying that PvZ Match discussion is moved to #pvz-misc-fangames
Done
Thanks
👍
@jagged trellis You ignored me...
😦
Help bestie what are you cooking
While I understand the sentiment, I believe there not to be a need to specifically explain that fusion is a fangame for a channel description. There have been fan games in the past and there will be games in the future that replicate pvz1 to a T. Nor have I or the Modding Staff experienced constant misuse of the channel due to fusion release except for just tiny reminders ever so often for new people in the modding scene.
@modern summit I guess there's no way to fix the problem then?
I won’t say no way, but I can’t come up with one.
I don't know if it is a problem with the server or a problem with the fangame
I mean I guess like Benny said, there's not much misusing of the channels to really care about it
yet
Hmm do we need the advertisement item there?
@hazy jacinth

Is it clear that it's related to self advertisement, because otherwise people wouldn't be able to post any sort of media there lol
Well, self advertisement isn't allowed overall, so I don't see why we need to specify it for that particular channel
Remove it then
Done
You can make self advertisement in #important-posts except discord invite but idk how much tho
Yeah, I never check that channel
I don't know the advertising reach that channel has
@stark hearth Shero do you maybe know
Know what
Important posts can advertise anything except discord invites
#important-posts advertisement reaching
What does that mean
How much and what you can advertise there
I see
Alright
Thank you

Since I suggested the guidelines on pins I have seen less confusion among people
There are always those who don't read anything but most do read lol
Hmm
Flag, should we put a new item in #pvz-3 guidelines that discussion about 3C should be in #pvz-chinese-games ?

We talked about this already I forgot lol
Well, it could be made just in case?
For organization
@hazy jacinth
