#sourcing parts for ERCF?

Anyone have any experience sourcing their own parts?

I already have motors, 8mm linear rod and 2020 rail laying around so I don't need a full kit. I also don't need 8 bmg gears right now even though that's the size I'm building. Three or four filaments would be fine to start.

How did you decide to go for ercf

I am trying to pick an mmu aswell

It seems to be the most popular open source one. The v2 uses a 2020 rail which I have laying around.

#

Docs are also super good and I found the bom and ordered $100 USD worth of parts today. The most expensive parts seem to be the bmg gears

Did you look into tradrack or chameleon

I looked at both, the tradrack was my top pick due to the 2020 rail but once I saw the ERCF v2 used it I decided to go with it. Mostly as there were kits for it. The chameleon is a cool design but going past 4 colors and things kinda turn into a spider web

But why did you decide to go with the ERCF v2 after seeing it also used a 2020 rail?

#

Answer in detail please, we are taking notes for our MMU.

#

Also, the github has a BOM with where to find everything

The gears I got off Ali Express as well as most everything else except the savox servo which I got from amazon

Honestly i think i want to make a PET filament maker first.

You mean like a soda bottle to filament machine? I have seen a few and they are neat, but cleaning, drying and processing the bottles seems not worth the $12 a roll of petg coats. Granted I know in some areas it's a lot more expensive

If you have a bottle return policy a spool of pet will cost you up to 150 euros

Lol yea even with no bottle return here it's still not worth it.

#

I should have everything I need tomorrow to do the build. Not sure how long the assembly will take but it doesn't look like it will take real long.

#

Just got the z axis driver's on the printer switched over to 2209's and also installed the driver's for the ERCF steppers as well

After I'm done with the build I will try to post a list of things that was in the BOM that are listed as needed but are not
