So, story goes one day a dummy (it was me, im the dummy) was buying used 3d printers for cheap and found an "ender 3" clone for $50. This machine was sold as the "disway -01 mini", and heres where it gets fun, its not an "ender 3" clone. Its an ender 5 plus but as a bedslinger. All the components come off an ender 5 plus from what i understand but its not on the rail system. Biggest problem is it doesnt have a clicker sensor (idk the proper name as i said ima dummy) for when it homes the z axis. It homes x which makes it so the bl touch sensor wont touch the bed so maybe is there some way i can get it to center itself after it checks x and uses the bl touch to check z or is that not ideal? Honestly have no idea what the best corse of action is to get this working🥴😅at least its not a hardware issue we know that🕺
#Still not sure what to do🥴😅

The touchscreen needs some help too, no idea how to get or what the proper software i should put on it is.
What the hell is this printer
It's like an Ender 3 but with even more issues
Get a V3 SE for $200 and never worry about stuff like that again!
The idea is im trying to learn about custom 3d printers. Ive got 4 printers with a 5th one in the mail so "just buy another lol" isnt what I would consider a resolution.
Today ima try setting up a custom profile and manually input the gcode for the bl touch and hopefully itll correctly utilize it as a z switch.
Also find me a printer that spec for $50 (hence why its a learning printer lol)
You don't need to learn on a bad printer
3D printing should be more about actually enjoying it
The knowledge you can get for this cheap Ender 3 clone won't be necessary for using most other machines
Sell this printer and get one that will let you have fun
Man i love that social medias have block features. If anyone has some relevant recommendations, knowledge or resources for me to get this printer working id greatly appreciate it.
can you give me a tldr :D
is the z endstop switch missing or you want to install bltouch
Basically, I have an Ender 3 clone and I am not sure how to properly set it up. I had it working out of the box, but the software the company had on it has issues so im trying to set it up as a custom printer. The Z end stop switch is missing and the extruder has BL touch installed on it, am I able to use the BL touch as an end stop switch?
you dont need an endstop switch if you have abl
you can't get the firmware for abl working I'm guessing?
Correct, and I may have made a mistake in flashing the motherboard and installing the Ender 5 plus software on it because I'm not sure if there's anyway I can get the old software back on it...🥴😅
why not just flash the correct firmware now
you probably wont be able to find the old one
Basically, the Ender 3 already sucks, and getting a clone will only give you more problems. For just $200, you can buy a reliable machine, for example, the V3 SE, that you will actually like working with. Then start a business and earn even more than the extra $150 you put into it, plus you will enjoy the process!
professional yapper
Well what is the correct firmware? The ender 5 is a different platform
honestly no idea
I'm trying to let you enjoy 3D printing
I have its the exact board from the ender 5 plus
Bcuz the Ender 5 is outdated and sucks
holy shit stfu
Its trying to check for the z switch, so maybe i just gotta get one for reliability sake
then you flashed the firmware for z endstop instead of bltouch
you can just reflash it correctly no?
No theres no switch, it maybe flashed correctly but it checks the x first and that puts the bl touch off the build plate so it just rams the nozzle into the bed
yes but the switch is irrelevant
you don't need the switch if you have bltouch
also did you enable the command for abl in the slicer
I see it takes priority over the z switch yes?
it just replaces it completely
you can have firmware that uses both but theres no need for it
Sweet, i think i actually know how i need to setup the profile now, ill need to figure out how to properly enable the bl touch but if it comes down to it ill just copy paste the gcode i need for it in there. Getting this touch screen working will be the next step 😅 thanks for helping me get pointed in the right direction! Your relevant input is greatly valued!
the problem is likely the firmware
and not the gcode
but not sure anymore
like 1st you need firmware that uses only the bltouch
then you need to enable bltouch bed leveling in gcode start
Oh i see you're saying it shouldn't even be checking the Z switch after it checks the X axis, it should just start the ABL sequence, am I understanding that correct?
yes
what it's supposed to do is move toolhead to the middle, erect the bltouch and level the z like that
I understand, I will reflash the firmware and make sure it goes through the proper sequence👌
OOOO i think ik what my issue was!! There was one time I did actually get it to go to the right after it checked the X axis, but it kept trying to go to the right and I think that's because it thinks it has a larger build volume than it actually does, which I did change in the profile, but I forgot to, change the centerpoint so maybe it was still trying to go to what it thought was 0,0
Oof, this is making me dread how much functionality I'm going to be able to get out of the touchscreen lol
would be best you turn an old phone into klipper screen
Ey i got a few tucked away, any guides you would recommend? Or is it pretty easy?
honestly no idea
you can host klipper on a pi and just open web ui on any device
its not too comlicated
That's something I'm trying to learn as well, how much of what I'm asking is stupid questions and how much of what I'm asking are relevant😅
Sounds like it should be pretty easy tho:)
That’s the reason why you have a million issues yourself
You don’t wanna learn but enjoy
expect others when it’s your responsibility to fix and learn
Not the place
My bad mate
@icy cape did you get it to work
