Hey guys, I’m looking to make my Ender 3 V2 a little bit bigger, but I’m not ready to spend $50 for it, can you guys help me choose appropriate materials and find any flaws here in this post?

Thanks guys, and as soon as I finish the model and it works, I will make it available for everyone on thingiverse!

The second picture below are all the pieces necessary for this project to work.

Unless you can get the aluminum extrusions for less you can't really get any cheaper.
If you go bigger you'll need to extend all the cables which will blow your budget very fast

My cables are already extended, but can’t I try to print the extensions in PETG?

You can always try 🤪 never seen anyone do it but woulnt be impossible.

If I make it super high strength and quality…

Don't think strength is the issue, you might see some layer shift because of layer lines and the transition point where it moves off the aluminum to the PETG.

Yea true, I’ll experiment around a bit and see

Then the only thing that's left is the screw

Yea, I mean I could just also print it in 100% infill in PETG too…

Don't think you want to print the screw, that really requires high precision to move up and down smoothly

Do you think that I should just buy one and then cut it to size?

You can buy them at any length, beware these are leadscrews, which are not the same as normal threaded rods. Normal threaded rods won't work

#

It doesn't matter if it's too long, it will just stick out above the printer

Ok, do you happen to have a link for a good lead screw?

Think the E3v2 has a T8x2 Leadscrew you might want to double check that..., probably any are "good". You can be the lucky one and have one that's not straight, slight wobble

Yep, T8x2

you can certainly try to print them but issue will be to attach them so the union wont cause layer issues. also wheels prob eat the print. i would recomend to use belts for z instead of leadscrews if you going longer
