#spaghetti on a new filament

Another attempt after increasing temperature at another user’s suggestion
Maybe I’m just dumb and/or too inexperienced with troubleshooting failed prints, but I can’t really tell where “temperature tower breaks and turns into spaghetti” would be on there
so i tried redoing the leveling because i figured out the nozzle was too high, and the print was going fine at first
but now this is happening
i'm really sorry if this is an obvious question, but what could be causing it?
Check to see if there’s a drag or something preventing your spool from turning as it feeds. I’ve had this happen and then it goes to spaghetti once it unsticks. Make sure your spool isn’t “tangled”, allowed to get loose, or anything casing drag on the line of filament
the spool doesn't seem to be tangled, and as far as i can tell, it rotates just fine
going to try another test while checking on the spool itself during printing
welp failed on the first block this time
you might be onto something with the spool thing
would it be a good idea to print a bearing based spool holder?
It can’t hurt if you can get it to print. I prefer them but you still have to watch it doesn’t hang loose or unwind as it can tangle onto itself easily. Even just “looking messy” can mean it catches on itself for being under another strand causing that tug and skip in extrusion.
Could also be your nozzle clogging if you have a spare it wouldn’t hurt to swap it out
I don’t think I have a spare, but I’ll check when I get home
I did try turning the spool upside down in some hope that it might reduce drag
So I’ll find out if that worked in like an hour ish
It did not work :(
I’m gonna try the nozzle thing, assuming any spare nozzles I have aren’t a different size
Now that I think about it tho
Is it possible it could be something else?
I had previously printed a calibration cube at 205 and that turned out fine
Maybe it could be only something that occurs a certain distance from the bed?
It’s possible you have drag in your Bowden tube . If you just extruded from your nozzle does the filament come straight out or does it go to the side
i'll have to check in a few hours, i'm testing another filament to see if this is a printer issue or a filament issue
Darn. Well there’s lots of fun reasons it could still have issues. Just a little more complex.
Ok so the regular hatchbox PLA worked fine
it goes down a tiny bit and then curls to the side
Bad filament it sounds like :/
Yeet that shit
oh god seriously?
is matterhackers pro series PLA known to be bad or did i just possibly get a bad spool
It’s possible it’s just a bass roll you can measure it in a bunch of spots to make sure size is in tolerance you can also try drying it
I opened a ticket with matterhackers to see what can be done and possibly get a replacement
I’ll try drying it tho, but it had this issue right out of the vacuum sealed bag
Sometimes it’s wet straight from the manufacturer no matter if it’s in a sealed bag or not. Pockets of moisture can definitely pop your filament and make it act super weird. When it prints can you hear sizzles or pops?
As far as I’m aware, there were no sizzles or pops
