any reason why this happened? second time and made sure not to move printer or anything

signal pelican
#

in the preview is there a gab between the black and orange?

signal pelican
#

id try adding a modifier slowing the speed down to 30 mms 1 or 2 layers before the change and see if its works

#

maybe you print so fast hat you skip steps

restive vigil
#

how would I do that?

#

like adding modifiers would slow it down for only the first few layers?

signal pelican
restive vigil
#

yep i am

signal pelican
signal pelican
#

also the link explains it on how

restive vigil
#

ah i see, so basically just changing print speed after it color swaps

signal pelican
#

before

#

1 or 2 layers

#

also slow down travel speed

restive vigil
#

before and keep it the speed that its changed at, or before and a few layers later back to normal?

signal pelican
#

at first id keep it if it works you can test that too but i guess you start skipping somehow.

restive vigil
#

hm okay, will try that tomorrow and see how it goes

#

thanks, will let you know

restive vigil
#

i mean i watched a few videos and articles and followed through and made sure everythings right, so not sure

#

reason i doubt it is ive never had a layer shift on any other prints, and doing multiple prints on this with different models and still having the same results makes me wonder

signal pelican
#

It is possible but thats why we lowerd the print speed. What printer do you have?

signal pelican
#

hmmm

restive vigil
#

yeah im lost

signal pelican
#

attach your gcode please and do oxu have a dual extrusion hotend aka 2 single nozzles?

restive vigil
#

on my printer

#

i have a nozzle

#

?

signal pelican
#

there are several methods for a colour change thats why im asking mixing nozzles 2 seprate nozzles etc

restive vigil
#

i mean

#

what i do is it pauses for the color change, i pull out the old filament, put in the new one, extrude it til the new filament goes through, and resume

#

i dont like change nozzles or anything

signal pelican
#

okay

#

hmm i think you missunderstood what i asked you to do .. you are still printing with roughly 100mm/s befor the color change is happening

restive vigil
#

really?

#

i mean i went in 2 layers before the color switch and added gcode changing it to 50% lower

restive vigil
signal pelican
restive vigil
signal pelican
#

speeds

restive vigil
#

oh

signal pelican
#

jep

#

im a little surprised myself

restive vigil
#

should i go like 2 layers lower then?

#

i mean the text is all the way at around 1.5

#

while the layer below it is still at like 6ish

#

so not sure

signal pelican
#

it your printer goes to change colour is it homing or does your print head just move up and starts beeping

restive vigil
signal pelican
#

there is the possiblilty that M600 is not completly supported .. what firmware version do you have?

signal pelican
#

hmm personaly i would not use jyers but the professional firmaware

#

not that jyers is a bad choice but it seems a little outdated

restive vigil
#

dk, for me its fine

#

did run into an issue earlier where when I were to pause, the heater timeout wouldnt go away, but had to change a few lines of code in it to get it fixed again

signal pelican
#

jep that was a marlin bug that got fixed like ...1 or 2 years ago

#

question. at your filament change do you happen to know what coordinates the printer showed on the display?

#

its possible that it switched from relative to absolute ..

restive vigil
#

no, i dont

signal pelican
#

usally the printhead pauses at x10 and y10 with m600

restive vigil
#

well i mean x10 is all the way to the left, right

signal pelican
#

and if you accidentaly switch to absolute coordiantes with m600 that would explain your shift

restive vigil
#

i think i’m gonna try to do this whole thing in the marlin firmware and see how it goes maybe

#

i know some things in jyers are stored on the board but don’t think i’ll have any issues

signal pelican
#

since the shift always seems to be the same i think it is a mix up with the coordinates but i cant put my finger on exactly where the issue is

#

@patent depot any idea? after colour change printhead is off roughly 1 cm in y

restive vigil
signal pelican
#

That would be great yes

#

Or/and you add a G28 X Y after the filament change

restive vigil
#

what’s that?

signal pelican
#

Thats homing your x and y axis. In the hope it will give you the right coordinates

restive vigil
#

hm okay will do that

restive vigil
signal pelican
#

After the filament changw yes

restive vigil
#

i mean makes no sense homing it a layer after

signal pelican
#

You can add that g code manualy by opening that file in a text editor

restive vigil
signal pelican
#

Microsofts ?

restive vigil
#

notepad doesnt seem to work

#

nvm found one i think

signal pelican
#

you sure? then just the normal txt editor

restive vigil
signal pelican
#

yes

restive vigil
#

"G28 X Y" right

signal pelican
#

yes

restive vigil
#

alright

#

well

#

im going to leave with a cliff hanger because timezones suck

#

1:30am almost for me

signal pelican
#

never 3dprint at 3 am 😄

restive vigil
#

lol

#

you'll see in 22 hours whether this works or not SUUUUUREEEE

signal pelican
#

good night

restive vigil
#

night

#

@signal pelican nevermind, got another problem

#

after i added the g28 x y

#

killed itself

signal pelican
#

öhm okay

#

thats a new one

#

im currently running it on my prusa and wait for the filament change

restive vigil
#

okay uh just to confirm so i dont feel dumb

#

is it g28 x y or g28 x10 y10

signal pelican
#

g28 x y

#

no numbre

#

unless you have 10 x and 10 y axis XD

restive vigil
#

yep okay am fine then

#

im so lost on what the problem is

#

okay now im getting a weird chirping sound from the printer

#

ah i see

#

think it was trying to home at the start for some reason, but it wasnt, and then it kills itself

#

which is why it was making that noise

signal pelican
#

looks right too me

#

hmm odd

#

i m waiting for my prusa too get to that point and we will see what happens

restive vigil
#

alright, ill actually try to head out now

#

ill be on for a couple more minutes to catch your message but will mess around with printer tomorrow

#

night

signal pelican
#

okay so it did home and prints at the right location and slowed down but only for the letters

#

and it prints on the correct position

#

and i can confirm with out the homing step it would have been that 1 cm off like yours

#

so its loosing or changing the y position

#

Horrible Quality but i printet with "wrong" code and at 400% flowsoim happy

restive vigil
#

so it has to be a printer problem for me

signal pelican
#

it somehow looses the y position

#

but with homing it worked

#

so no idea whats happening at your printer

restive vigil
#

wonder why my printer died when i put in the g28 code

#

i’m going to install marlin again tomorrow and see if there’s any difference

#

so we’ll see

#

will let you know tomorrow, thank you 🙏

signal pelican
#

👍

restive vigil
#

put the bin file on the card and put it in the printer, turned it on, and just stuck on the creality logo

#

thinking about it, i think it might be a problem with my version of jyers

#

because i had an issue where the heater would time out and wouldnt go back to normal if i paused a print, so think it was @kind seal who helped me change a few blocks of code to fix that problem, so most likely thats the reason that it loses the y position

rebooted jyers firmware and accidently put zoffset .5mm too low and 3rd bed is destroyed KEKW
