Starting the first print, and first, instead of starting off by making a square, it starts printing more of a triangle, and then starts actually making the shape, but doing squiggles on it, and then it just starts dragging the print along with it. Any settings I need to change?

nozzle is too far from the bed
This is poor bed adhesion
do you have an auto-bed-leveling probe of some sort or all manual?
But yeah probably nozzle height
i bought a bl touch
didnt use it yet
should i install that right now before I try again?
wanted to just try a first print to see how badly it would screw up
up to you. if you ultimately plan on using the bltouch I guess you might as well put it on there now so you don't have to re-calibrate everything again
alright, ill do that then, probably will make life easier too
thanks, will reply if something goes wrong again lol
when*
also, would you by chance know whether or not i'd have to install firmware before installing the bl touch? watching a video saying I should but others aren't really saying anything
yes. you'll probably need to flash firmware that's configured to use the bltouch
would it be this?
my printers version is 1.0.2, so not sure whether I can use these or not
the board number (e.g. 4.2.7) should be printed on the board. match that number up
ah, okay. how would i know if it properly installed or not?
the firmware? it should show the version number somewhere in the menu or something?
not sure, still shows 1.0.4
i extracted the firmware and put it in the sd and then put it in the printer and turned it on, but on the printer versions still the same as before
show the contents of the sd card
dont think i can right now, i had to delete the bin file and repaste it into the drive, and now its in the printer but its been stuck on the starting screen i assume updating for the past 3 minutes
not sure if it should take more than 30 seconds
do you know whether its safe or not to turn it off?
saw someone said it'll get turned into a brick or like get messed up if I do
I mean, if it's been over 5 minutes there really isn't another option other than rebooting it
yeah i did it. heres the drive again
printer, the one on the outside
reformat the sdcard as fat32. copy the firmware file again and give it a simple new unique name like fwupdate112.bin. and try again
DO safely remove the sd card
alright, also what will that do?
just covering a bunch of bases here. maybe the filesystem is partially corrupt? reformat. maybe it already tried to flash this filename and failed? give it a unique name because creality boards require a new name for the next flash
maybe you are unsafely removing the sdcard and corrupting the filesystem? don't do that
its already a fat32
reformat it anyways
alright
should i redownload the files, or just copy and paste them once formatted?
just in case the files are like corrupted
don't copy it from the sd card.
gotcha
yeah same thing as before, still stuck on that screen for some reason
very weird
could try a different sd card
unfortunately dont have anymore; is this due to the sd card?
possibly. boards not liking particular sdcards for firmware updates is a thing
think it did something to the printer; tried turning it on without the sd card and now its stuck
wtf
sorry for a lot of questions btw, very confusing to me; for the bl touch firmware, do i only need the bin file and update the machine only?
there's probably firmware for the display as well
this is what it comes with
in the notes, it says to do both
so i guess i'll have to do the screen one too.
so I updated both firmwares, but im not seeing anything new on the screen like i should for the bl touch version, which is like auto leveling and everything
i mean version is different but everything else is the same
screen updated but machine didn't, still not sure why. machine updates with every other firmware, but not with the bl touch version
wonder if i need to actually plug it in and get it working first
not sure
