My filament feeder works well for a bit, then eventually it just starts grinding on the filament and stops feeding.

The ultimate solution is to stop using the stock Creality plastic extruder because it's awful.

In the meantime, lower retraction speed a bit, make sure your nozzle is clean and not clogged

if you run the stock settings they are usllay to fast or too much distance in retraction as @granite light said. i was basicly able to get each creatily i every own to clog with them

dark roost
#

one like this?

#

ill reduce the retraction speed and distance and try real quick

hot talon
#

that one would wortk but a bondtech clone might be better

dark roost

ok so i reduced the retraction speed, and cleaned the extruder, the guide that helps the filament go in isnt rotating... but filament is still going in lol, ill update if it fails or completes

Alright the problem is fixed but now I have another issue I think I need to recalibrate my axes

granite light
#

What's your nozzle temp? PLA?

#

Definitely not an axes problem the skirt printed fine

dark roost
#

my temp is at 220 and its silk pla

granite light
#

Layer height? Speed?

dark roost
#

one sec i need to open ultimaker

#

layer height is 0.32 mm and print speed is 50mm a second

granite light
#

Make sure the belts are tight and try 0.2 layer height

dark roost
#

the belts seem tight, im not sure how tight it should be. and ill try printing at 0.2 in a sec

granite light
#

Should be tight enough to pluck like a string

dark roost
#

yep thats what it sounded like

#

alright its heating up

hot talon
#

Silkpla is a pla tpu mix. So its even more moisture sensetive. Drying it and aslight icrease inflowrate will also help

dark roost
#

ive had this filament for a long time so it probably has a lot of moisture build up. Whats a good way to dry it?

hot talon
dark roost
#

thank you!

dark roost
#

I dried the filament for around 7 hours, and it still comes out like this, maybe the filament I bought is just crappy?

@dark roost what if you squeeze this lever this way with your fingers?

hot talon
#

Maybe the plastic extruder cracked

dark roost
#

I squeezed the lever and now it does this, should I just buy a new extruder?

dark roost
#

Still has some problems though, I’ll try to fix them later, thanks for all the help everyone!

dark roost

Nice, I’ll order it

hot talon
#

try one or two cold pulls maybe there is still some dirt

dark roost
#

I think its getting better and better

unborn sapphire
#

That extruder looks terrible. it's basically the same as the one you already have. Get a BMG clone if you are going to order an extruder.

dark roost
#

one of these?

#

i was worried it was gonna be super expensive but its actually pretty cheap

unborn sapphire
#

yeah, this style of extruder has a reduction gear so it has power to move the filament with the tension set high and really grabbing the filament

#

:)

dark roost
#

thats probably what i'll order, thanks for the suggestions guys!

hot talon
#

The og bmg are expensive yes the clones not

dark roost
#

do the clones work the same?

hot talon
#

On bowden yes

waxen gull
#

the trianglelab ones are crazy good qualitsy

#

i suspect them to come from the same supplier tbh haha

dark roost
#

cant wait to replace it

i had this same problem with a ender 3 v2 and the extruder sorta skipping and the solution i found was the nozzle and the tube going from the extruder had a gap in between the so filament would get suck there and not print so i changed the tube bc it had melted away anyways bc the one it came with was sorta cheap so i got a capri corn one and it seamed to work just fine the extruder had nothing too do with it

#

hope that helps

hot talon
#

uhhrgg another capricorn victim

waxen gull
#

lol its still quite good quality tho

#

compared to the most other ones
