Hi! I have an Elegoo Saturn that arrived yesterday. The test rook printed perfectly.
Then I went to print something of my own. Once it was finished, I came to find that only the supports were on the build plate and the object itself had failed to print. Some of it had partially printed, but that was sticking to the resin vat. I assume the issue has to do with supports I set up in chitubox. But I'm completely new to 3D printing, so I don't really know how to keep my print structurally sound during the printing process. So I was wondering if I could get some advice for how to keep my print from failing or what supports I should be using? I can send the file if needed. Thank you for any help!
#Completely new to printing, could I get help with supports?

DId you auto-place supports, or placed them manually?
That sounds like under-supporting in general~
I used auto placed medium supports, but I was just sort of guessing!
They ended up looking something like this
I'm just not too sure where adequate supports should be?
no, lets talk about settings first
settings my friend, screenshot and post
also are you using that unreliable elegoo resin?
please use these lift settings

Ok! Here's all of it, I was just printing with all the settings at default
If that seems to be a part of the problem and the auto supports aren't too bad, I can give it a try with the update settings
I have elegoo water washable resin, didn't know it was considered unreliable. I'll try to make use out of it despite that, but is there a better brand you'd recommend for when I run out?
yeah do the updated settings Chaos showed you, also auto supports is good but always double check islands , and siraya tech is really reliable
anyone know if 70% alcholol is sufficient for cleaning up prints
its not ideal but you can get away with 70%
your exposure setting look ok-ish for elegooWW, supports also look fine
elegoo resin is meh at best, their water washable resin is junk though, ive seen a number of folks come on here using that stuff and having constant issues
ONLY ONE GUY got flawless prints and we all hate him lol, but then he opened another bottle and it was nothing but fails so all is right with the world lol
but yes you absolutly should be using ST resin
Ok! Thank you for the help, I appreciate it, I'd be totally lost without it.
I've gone ahead and started up a new print with updated settings and a couple more supports, I'll let you know how it goes
Siraya Tech seems to be around the same price as Elegoo's resin, so that'll definitely be my next choice, or I'll get some right away, if all else fails
(And shout-out to that one guy)
Sorry to jump in the talk but I wonder, I have access to water washable eSun, and Creality
Is either of those good, or should I stick to regular resin?
A bit of an update, printing with updated settings has been a success, thank you!
I'd also like to know if there are any water washable resins that are decent
siraya tech simple is a water washable hybrid
