Burn-in protection is something that is necessary for when the panel is on active display.
When it's turned off why would burn-in protection be needed?
Why do you have any doubt about what I just said?
All burn-in protection features are only active when the monitor is active, that's how it works, since burn-in is something that happens in areas where the monitor display non-moving images.
If the monitor is not displaying anything at all (turned off) then why would you need any burn-in protection feature to be activated?
Have you even looked into what Pixel Refresh does?

And why it is a feature in the first place?
Yes, but explain to me why do you think a feature like this needs to work when the pixel diodes aren't even powered on...
Maybe you need to read the last sentence again, the pixel refresh cycle kicks in for however long it normally take (10-15 minutes), and that's it
it's the same feature for both state
it's all the same thing
Panel Protect includes Pixel Refresh and the notification
The refresh happens automatically every 4 hours if you set it on Auto
and if you set it to 16 hrs for prolonged use then it will only do it at the 16 hour mark
if you turn your screen off or it goes into idles before 16 hours, then Pixel Refresh will kick in
So if you have auto, every 4 hours it will ask you if you want to perform the Pixel Refresh cycle, you can choose yes or no. After 16 hours it is mandatory refresh and the notice will tell you that
If you set to prolonged (Useage 16 hrs) then it won't ask you every 4 hours, but at 16 hour mark the notifcation will let you know that it's doing the mandatory refresh
Yes, according to how it work I believe this is the case.
Pixel refresh will always kick in before the entire screen is powered down completely
during this time you will see your power light blinking orange during the cycle, and then it will turn off for real.
Keep in mind that when your monitor is on standby mode, it is essentially being turned off, with only a little bit of energy usage to detect when you want the screen to be active again.
So once it goes into standby, it is like the same when the screen is being turned off, it will do the pixel refresh cycle once, and that's it, until you want to use your screen again.
So there is actually no feature that actively take care of your screen when it is off - because it is not necessary - The Pixel Refresh will activate during use (mandatory at 16 hours of continuous use) and before the monitor is powered off/idles or in standby mode. All of this is done automatically whether you want to activate it manually every 4 hours or not.
the automatic panel protect only works when
- you've been over 4 hrs of monitor usage meaning you skipped the reminder or disabled it completely
- monitor is on stand-by NOT off
if the OSD is the same as 321urx, youc an set the power button to stand by as opposed to off, so when ur over 4 hrs you can just hit the power button instead of going through the osd
then yeah it will jsut go on stand by
but know that if the usage since last panel protect is under 4 hours it wont run it
even if you go stand by
atleast this is how my 321urx behaves
i think even if its 3h59m it wont run
so what i generally do is run it everytime i know i'll be away for a while, or before i go to bed
im gonna try now actually
im close to 4h mark
i mean yeah, i have mine set to turn monitor off after 10 minutes and just have screen saver before then
if uw ann be aggressive set it to like 3 min
yeah
if its flashin orange it means its running panel protect
oh also the timer for panel protect stops when ur ons tand by if that wasnt clear, so yeah it kinda sucks if you forget to run it and you were at like 3h50m usage casue once it hits 4h, the reminder will pop up to do it
device sleep is computer
you dont have to make ur computer sleep after 10 minutes lol
some people dont like using screen saver cause its still using your pixels but mistify looks really nice in OLED LMAO
No
I saying device sleep is ur pc going to sleep mode
Screen off setting puts monitor in stand by
It should work for standby or powering off, if it doesn't do it for you then I would hedge to say that you need to either update the firmware or that this feature is not working correctly for you.
According to https://www.msi.com/blog/how-msi-oled-care-prevents-oled-from-burn-in the pixel refresh cycle should behave like this:
- Every 4 hours on "Auto" mode if you select yes on confirmation window, 16th consecutive hour is mandatory refresh no matter what you select before
- "Usage 16 hours" mode will not pixel refresh every 4 hours, and you won't see any notification about it until the mandatory refresh after 16th consecutive hour.
- Every time your screen powers off, or powers down, a pixel refresh cycle will initiate before the monitor is off completely, or it goes full idle/standby. This, intuitively, is how it should function, since this feature is meant to be as automated and hand-free as possible (unless you want to have manual trigger over the 4 hours pixel refresh cycles)
If I can understand it correctly, the panel protect is like a "longer pixel refresh cycle"
After 1500 hours of screen time, it will notify you, if you don't want it to perform right away, you can skip it, but after 16 hours of usage it will force mandatory panel protect cycle.
I'm not 100% sure on this, but it would make sense for it to also activate if the monitor is powered down before the 16 hours of consecutive usage, after this warning.
This cycle take longer to complete, 1 hour instead of 10-15 minutes.
