Hello,

I have the msi ge76 raider computer, and it’s been hitting ridiculous temperatures while idle or gaming or whatever. Idle it’s around 60-70, while when I’m gaming it immediately goes to 94 no matter what game what settings. This is mainly just cpu, but gpu also hits high numbers. I’ve had my fans cleaned out, and thermal paste has been reapplied, AND I bought a computer cooling pad for over 100$, but my computer still shows the same numbers. Even with the cooling pad on nothing seems to change. One more thing to add, is that my computer feels completely cold yet it’s still showing 94* in apps like Core Temp or MSI center. Someone please give me a solution, weather it’s to update something or what. Thank you.

good gaming laptops will avoid spreading heat to the keyboard/case so you can have the laptop on your lap/not burn your fingers while gaming

#

do you know exactly which cpu/gpu you have the ge76 raider has different versions

Agree'd

#

There is not much you can do to reduce the heat from a laptop without significantly modifying the chassis and cooling solutions inside

#

Most high-end laptops with top specs are often limited by thermal, they just caps out when you put a significant workload on it

#

Good thing though is that the chips are designed to withstand high temperature, so as long as you don't feel like your computer is being hampered in performance due to heat, and it's not running over 100C then you're good.

Alright, thank you both a lot

Like is there still any use for it

#

Only thing I’ve noticed it do is cool the computer so it’s like not burning hot on the outside

If you noticed too much heat outside of the laptop while using it, then the pad can be useful

#

I only remember using a pad a long time ago when gaming laptops were very bulky and runs hot, but if it's not hot enough to be uncomfortable for you then a pad might not be needed.

Will having one like help to increase lifespan of computer

#

Like is it beneficial in any other way since it doesn’t bring my cpu temp down

#

Also is 94oC fine for like long term

#

Will it not cause any damage to the compurer

And they can survive up to 105C or more, but basically over 100C for extended period is when you should be worried.

ambient temperature needs to be drastically different for you to see a drop in CPU temperature in a laptop

#

Laptops just run a lot hotter on average than desktop PC, that's just the reality of it, but you shouldn't really worry too much IMO. If you're experiencing performance issues or uncomfortably hot heat that is significant enough to hamper your use case of the laptop, then that's a different matter.

By fps spikes it’s like at a hundred goes down to like 20 for a quick moment and goes back to 100. It like varies how often it occurs, some to mes every now and then and other times very frequently

#

Also another example in games like Fortnite playing on performance I get minmal fps spikes but playing on like direct 11 I get it all the time, even with the settings being turned to the lowest

#

And I’ll peak around 120 on performance
