what effect does having less capacitors have, when comparing e.g. the gaming trio to the suprim boards, at least the ones we've seen. they look almost the same but the trio is straight up missing several, and has a few flat ones swapped for the tall ones

I think that's the idea. There are lots of people with theories about some grand plan to limit all the supply and bump up the price, and that does make AIBs more money, but the 5090 is already a high margin card. They make money on 5080s at 1000+ bucks, but the 5090 is nowhere near another 1000 bucks in material costs, and yet it is still double the price. The margin on that card is nuts. Could they get an extra 300, 400, 500 bucks out of people with a big plan to limit supply...sure. They could also have lots of supply and sell 10 times as many cards, and make a fuck ton more money

Yea, there's word they hit a yield issue in the fall, and they had to switch fab capacity earmarked for balckwell consumer to server chips. Then they fell behind. They never caught up. So now we have to wait while they catch up in real time. Jensen wanted to wave a 5090 around on stage at CES. That's probably just ego, but it is what it is. The launch should have been bumped to March/April.

I was trying to express that giving tax breaks to already wealthy people not only does NOT make the economy better for everyone, but in fact often makes it worse. Any amd msi fan boys know the best memory kit to pair with the godlike?

I do not know for sure. Curious about that myself as I'll be moving over from intel with my next build. If it's AMD (which I am assuming), from what I have been seeing in all my research, the best look is normally 6000 or hopefully 6400, with a low CL of like 28 to 32 (lower the better). The amount is 64 or more (prob more if you are going godlike), as long as it's a 2 by X set up. NO 4 by X. Only use two channels. I have seen people run 4 sticks, but it seems like some kind of mad alchemy of changing settings in the bios over and over to actually get a benefit, because If you just plug and play, populating all 4 slots will actually hurt performance more often than not. So if you can find a 64, or maybe 96 two stick kit at 6400 with a 30 CL in an EXPO profile (EXPO is the AMD mem profile) then you probably found the right stuff. Again, this is just me doing research, so someone who has actually built with this stuff might know better.

but the basic TLDW, 6000 - 30 CL EXPO. You only get minor (like 1 or 2% often) boosts from going above that. Also 6000 will always run, even on lower quality silicon
