cpu is usually over 80 degrees while doing literally the most basic tasks and in the least heavy tasks throttles between 95-100 degrees...
even in a not so cpu intensive game like genshin for example where the cpu utilization is always under 20% cpu is just cooking itself. Ik its a 13980hx but cmon, this can't be a normal behaviour... Not to mention having the cpu fan maxed out at 6000rpm all the time is hella annoying. Anything that can be done about this? Thanks

Since it is a 13th gen CPU, it probably isn't all that old, so it probably just has a bad cooler mount or the thermal paste is poorly applied.
There could be dust build up on the heatsink but with it being new, there hasn't been a lot of time for dust to collect in there.
Pc was bought in February this year and hardly used, so there is no dust for sure. And is it possible thst the thermal paste came messed up from the factory?
My best guess would be thermal paste is either dried up or not covering everything or maybe the cooler is not touching all the way, meaning not tightened down properly.
Do you have any benchmarks you can run to see how your score compares to similar systems?
It would help if you could monitor clock speeds in real time to see if the heat is causing the system to throttle and slow down the clocks.
I believe i got 28000 in cinebench on multi and 2100 on single core
I did a quick Google search of 13980hx Cinebench scores and saw screen shots of others scoring higher.
I would be interested in knowing what the clock speeds are doing. Do you have CPUID HWMonitor or something similar?
i have it all
but is there a way to make them record the clock speed? Or is it only able to show it in real time?
Record it on your phone would be my recommendation. Don’t know another way. Just be careful of everything else on the screen, like potentially the name of the computer at the top being your name.
I finally figured out to how to undervolt the system and so far it has been great
That is fantastic. However, if it is a cooling issue with the paste or mount then you are just masking the issue vs fixing it.
Yeah, I got you. But the laptop was bought in february this year and was hardly used ever since
it was only powered on for about 190 hours
