You currently have a 2x8GB kit of RAM in your laptop, and you want to remove one of those sticks to add a 32GB kit, so you will have one 8GB stick and a 32GB stick?
yea
one remove 8gb to 32gb add
ok
Everything I read was saying they would work in a thing called flex mode. Basically you will only get dual channel performance with 8GB of the 32GB stick and the other 8GB stick, at whatever speed the slowest stick is. The rest of the 32GB will work in single channel.
Basically sure it will work, but you won’t be getting 40GB of dual channel performance.
I wouldn’t recommend using mismatching kits of RAM because it is known to cause errors while running. The most ideal thing you could do is get a kit that is either 2x16GB or 2x32GB depending on your budget and capacity that you want.
If you are getting 100% utilization with 16GB then I would also look at what other programs you have running in the background while playing and close ones you don’t need to open up some space.
hmm
used 8gb + 32gb new or new 16gb x2 ?
For the best chance of stability and still getting higher capacity, I would recommend a matching 2x16GB kit. Do not buy two separate 1x16GB sticks, you could just end up right back where you started.
sure 8+ 32gb is cheap?, new 16gb x2 is expensive
What area do you live in? I am seeing some 2x16GB sticks going for cheaper than 32GB sticks.
8gb x2 ram
I wasn’t recommending getting a 2x8GB kit, because you already have that.
How much are 2x16GB kits and single 32GB sticks in your area?
