#MSI Titan GT77HX 13VI flickering screen sometimes
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hey
I would delete the first screenshot
It shows your email address
email address associated with your Windows account for that machine
I'm guessing.
For privacy and security reasons, obscure it or delete the screensho
I would check MSI Center for updates.
Have you googled that optional intel update?
I've got 2 factor auth anyway but thanks 👍. I'll check MSI Center and no I haven't googled the Intel update
Nice! I'm using passkeys when offered that option.
Yeah don't want threat actors to get even more information about us.
Lol I got like my mobile connected. My email and Microsoft authenticator. But yeah your right 👍
They already have enough from data breaches... and the aggregation of all that leaked data to do attacks and gain further intel... scary
How do I find what's wrong with the laptop? I doubt it's hardware
flickering screen. try reinstalling GPU driver(s). disable unnecessary device drivers. idk flickering could be due to driver conflicts
It passed timespy extreme.
Ok I will reinstall drivers and check what the Intel update is as well as the MSI Center
I'll come back when I've done that
what is this? this is the intel update in optional updates
How to use Intel® Dynamic Tuning (Intel® DTT) and its benefits.
Sounds like it's important

Intel® Dynamic Tuning Technology (Intel® DTT)4
Customize power settings to intelligently adapt power policies based on usage mode and temperature. These power optimization tools provide OEM/ODM engineers with machine learning algorithms to predict workload needs and make dynamic adjustments.
An additional policy, Intel® Application Optimizer determines and directs application resources in real-time. This policy optimizes thread scheduling along with application threading for selected software titles and may provide additional performance on supported processor SKUs.
Add automatic tuning capabilities to Intel® Core™ processor-based systems with Intel® Adaptix™ technology, a toolkit for customizing performance.
I have clean installed Intel and NVIDIA graphics drivers in safe mode with ddu and installed the ones off NVIDIA website and the laptop support page. I'll keep you posted to see if it worked
🤞
When I installed the graphics driver for Intel off of the laptop support page and used clean install it asked me to restart. Then windows update installed another display driver for Intel after I restarted. Why did it do that
also after switching to hybrid graphics mode instead of discrete graphics mode in user scenario it hasn't flickered since but haven't used the laptop enough to properly know
I don't know. Maybe Intel driver from Windows Update is more up-to-date.
That's interesting. Maybe it's better for laptop performance in hybrid graphics mode because iGPU can handle the Discord and Steam app, while reserving discrete GPU for when you launch and play games.
Maybe the discrete mode is for external monitors ?
It's called a mux switch or something
If staying with MSHybrid Graphics Mode and connecting an external monitor, then I guess the dGPU will be used.
Do you have an external monitor connected to your laptop?
no but thats what i was told about a mux switch. it disables the cpu display gpu from being a third wheel and stops the main gpu from having to go through the cpu display gpu to get frames. Which in turn equals more frames
which is the discrete gpu mode in msi center
Yep and lower system latency because the GPU output signals are sent directly to the monitor thanks to MUX.
Just wondering what is causing the screen flickering when you're using DIscord and Steam app.
it hasnt done it since. keep you posted
It's not just those two apps. I was doing a windows update today before doing what I did and the screen flickered like crazy until I changed it to hybrid and did those clean installs
For like 10 seconds
Still runs like a behemoth anyway in hybrid. Actually I can't tell the difference 😕
Nice! Yeah I don't know. I guess in hybrid mode and you start playing a game or doing GPU intensive tasks, then your laptop will switch to discrete GPU.
When dGPU is not needed, then iGPU will be used.
🤷♂️
Well I told it to use the discrete card in windows settings as well but yeah
Let's hope reinstalling NVIDIA and Intel GPU drivers stopped the screen flickering issue. 🤞
Haven't had a chance to properly test but I was on it for an hour last night and so far so good 👍
Microsoft November 2023 Patch Tuesday... today. Hopefully Windows Updates get installed without issues
Yeah I am updating my desktop now actually.
