Hey @delicate summit
Check out this https://www.avg.com/en/signal/9-ways-boost-gaming-rig
Try suggestions in that article only if you're comfortable doing them.
Backup all data just in case.
Ok cause I just got this gaming laptop its only a couple months
Sometimes lag could be cause by game servers being overlorded, network congestion
if playing on wireless connection, then consider playing on wired(ethernet) conenciton
I'm wired
Sometimes restarting your laptop and router may help
If your laptop is overheating, then consider getting a cooling pad.
I was also wondering if something was turning my graphics card off and causing me to run off the other one
a cooling pad it does get hot
hmm
Check task manager when you're gaming
its alot of stuff running I'm going to try the link you sent it might help I thought the gaming mode would do it but it got to be something I installed and forgot about I think we will see.
Sounds like a good plan! Good luck!
Thanks
Also, check out your laptop's support page for any updates.
I think I figured it out
The link you did good but my files were syncing to one drive
I paused it and I think the stutter stopped let’s see
Thanks! Really appreciate the feedback
Usually, I get no feedback if what I suggested worked... or their issue was solved.
Good to know it was Onedrive.
I have Onedrive uninstalled on my main PC.
I hope pausing Onedrive fixed the stuttering 🤞
Also, check your anti-virus/ anti-malware programs for a "game mode" or settings you can adjust for gaming. You generally see this in third-party software. I don't believe the built-in Microsoft Defender has such settings, but sometimes controlled folder access under Ransom Protection and Core Isolation under Device Security may flag some game files and processes, asking for further permissions.
I'm still getting a windows API error
hmm, Idk. Maybe FiveM game related issue. https://fivem.guide/guides/common-fivem-client-issues-guide
Find common solutions to FiveM® crashes, errors, and issues.
Check out the suggestions mentioned there. 😕
You could try with Windows Game Mode turned off.
More balanced sharing of system resources with it off
I'm wondering if its soemthing else. I'm running discord, medal, steam, and fivem all at the same time and not by choice you have to have both steam and discord to even get in the servers.
Then medal is for content creation and reporting purposes.
Have you tried running SFC tool in Powershell or Command Prompt?
Maybe Windows system files are corrupted.
I would run DISM commands first, then run SFC

System File Checker is a tool used to check and fix corrupted system files.
I'm not sure if your issue is MSI related directly.
I would check directly with FiveM.
Looks like the developers of FiveM... or at least the people involved in the game community have their own Forum where you can post about errors and FiveM related issues.
That call to Windows API took too long notification could mean many things.
Could be how FiveM is using/sharing Windows files with other apps
Anyway, I would check that forum out since the Windows API issue was encountered in the FiveM modification of GTA V.
It may be worth uninstalling then reinstalling some common apps that you use.
You mentioned discord, medal, steam, and fivem...
so I would start there
Ok Thanks.
Its between fivem and medal because I also notice things running way smoother when medal is closed but everyone uses medal for clips so i wonder if there are any alternatives. Is there anything native I can use that MSI already has prebuilt
So I just tried to open fivem and this is what my screen said
I was reffered to the following link.
Hi! I’ve been hearing that you are encountering an issue with FiveM/RedM/LibertyM being stuck on a colored screen and being unable to proceed. Well, here is a few potential solutions that you can try. This issue is generally caused because of your laptop using the iGPU instead of the discrete GPU. Try this first! Open Windows settings. Cli...
Nice. So was the issue because you were playing off the iGPU and not the discrete GPU?
@lavish thunder I thought so but it was set to run off the right GPU but I noticed that it gets worse when medal is running
and I don't know enough on what processes to turn off that might be running in the background that I don't need. Fivem is a different beast cause you need Disocrd and steam open to fly in most cities. Medal helps with disputes on roleplay so you can report people. I'm not sure if you familiar with FiveM or not but today I got this message.
I do have a NVMe memory card that's 2TB I just don't know how to install it in a laptop kind of scared.
I'm not familiar with FiveM, so that's why I directed you to their website and forum. They seem the most likely to help with this issue.

Have you tried DDU?
Make sure to backup your data or create a system restore point before running DDU.
I would consult your laptop manual on how to install a M.2 SSD.
