My laptop heats up extremely quickly to temperatures of 85-98 degrees centigrade, I have the cooling boost on but it isn't helping. I am wondering if I should get it looked at.

#

it literally burns me when i touch the area above the fan

#

even with nothing running it idles around 90 degrees

#

i have to turn it off and put it in the fridge for like 10 minutes to get it to cool down

#

rn my cpu usage is only 18% and my cpu is 94 degrees

#

idling at 90 degrees isn't normal

#

you should definitely get it looked at/fixed

#

how long have you had this laptop?

#

did something happen that cause this?

prisma mulch
#

no clue

#

i've had it since summer 2021

devout jacinth
#

I wouldn't continue using the laptop in that condition

#

are the cpu cooler/fans running fine?

prisma mulch
#

yeah i think

#

i'll prob crack the laptop open and see whats wrong with it

devout jacinth
#

try rma if it's still under warranty

prisma mulch
#

its not

#

factory seal is broken

devout jacinth
#

otherwise you could try repasting the cpu yourself or have a repair shop do it

prisma mulch
#

alr

#

i kinda want msi staff in here

#

lol

#

this is concerning

#

it like just started happening in the last week

#

its prob bc i havent turned it off since like last weekend

devout jacinth
#

haven't come across any staff in here yet

Use a cooling pad if you're not already.

#

Check your Windows power plan.

#

You can configure a plan that balances temps and fan noise... that fits your needs

prisma mulch
#

i didnt open it

#

but they prob look like that lol

cursive gyro
#

lol

#

repasting CPU is another option

prisma mulch
#

yeah

cursive gyro
#

Search online for your laptop model. Probably youtube videos showing how to disassemble your specific model

prisma mulch
#

i've taken it apart before

#

i put new ram in it

cursive gyro
#

prisma mulch
#

cursive gyro
#

i c

prisma mulch
#

so its prob back under control

prisma mulch
#

if it doesnt go back down when i close minecraft than i will come back in here

cursive gyro
#

nice. Are you using a cooling pad?

prisma mulch
#

no

#

i looked at them tho

#

i'll probably get one

cursive gyro
#

I don't play minecraft, but I heard it's pretty hard on PC systems?

#

depending on mods

prisma mulch
#

yeah it can be if you run it with alot of mods yeah

#

and i allocated 10 gb ram to it

cursive gyro
#

Best of luck!

better than idling at 90 but still toasty

#

what is your cpu btw?

#

what power mode do you run?

#

could also think about undervolting & power limiting your cpu if that is doable

prisma mulch
#

intel i5

#

and i run at extreme performance mode

devout jacinth
#

milking all the performance you can I see
