#HDMI port not working
65 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
it is on the right port and yes i do
Are both displays plugged in at the same time?
Have you tried connecting the GPU to the monitor using something other than HDMI? Want to try and determine if it is the PC not outputting an image or if maybe it is just that single HDMI port that went bad.
yh it works with a dp port cable but i broke my 2nd one
its the same issue with both monitors (same)
Broke the DP cable, or the DP port on the GPU?
cable and gpu port but i have 3 dports on the gpu
You still get an image to the monitor from the GPU using one of the other ports?
yh
Are you using the same HDMI cable that you know works with the PS5, or do you have one HDMI cable for the PC and another for the PS5?
i have like 5 and they all work with the ps5 and with the pc to an LG monitor
Alright, one question that I asked earlier, and I just wanted to make sure that I was clear. I did not mean to ask what port are you using, I was asking if the monitor settings are set on the monitor to the HDMI input. Like when you toggle the source for the input, are you sure the monitor is set to HDMI?
Yes i am positive
LG Monitor = LMG
MSI Monitor = MSIM
LMG > HDMI > PC - Works
LMG > HDMI > PS5 - Works
MSIM > HDMI > PS5 - Works
MSIM > DP > PC - Works
MSIM > HDMI > PC - Does not work
The ONLY thing that I can think of is maybe that second monitor is disabled by NVIDIA when it is using HDMI. Can you Plug the MSIM into HDMI, the LGM into DP, and open up NVIDIA Control Panel?
i have a 2nd MSIM with DP so would that work instead of the LGM into DP
and i have 2 monitors on now
Got it, I just wanted to have you see an image while the MSIM is hooked up to the HDMI so we can see if the PC even detects it.
yh it detects it but says its inactive in the settings app
Can you screenshot or snipit what you are looking at?
I don't need the whole screen, just the nvidia settings.
Okay, can you check that box so both are selected?
What happens if you hit Windows + P, and try to duplicate or extend your image?
goes back to pc screen only
If you swapped which monitor was using DP and which was using HDMI, then only the DP one would appear?
?
if your saying swap the wires
yh only the dp works still
same issue on same monitors
might be a manufacturing issue
From the back of the monitor, if those were swapped then the DP would display and the HDMI would not?
yh
Any chance these monitors need a firmware update?
Can you go into the monitor menu, and see if there is an about section and see what version it is running?
Sure, short of this just needing an update, not sure where to go from here unless there is just some issue where MSI does not like seeing the same monitor on two different connection types.

Check this when you come back, and it was not something that I was thinking about until I remembered that different HDMI and DP standards allow different resolutions and refresh rates.
You will want to go to page 30/31, and you will see that HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 on the monitor does not support 2560x1080 @ 200hz, but DP does. DP will not however support 2560x1080 @ 180hz but HDMI will.
My suspicion is if you set your refresh rate to 144hz, then both displays will work.
If you want both displays to work at 200hz, then it would have to be both hooked up to DP.
You can try setting just the DP monitor to 200hz, and the HDMI monitor higher than 144hz after you can see it detected.
ive bought a new dp cable so its fine now than u for ur help tho
That is good that the issue was resolved. Was the original issue that the monitors were set to 200hz and the HDMI standard does not allow it?
it didnt fix it so i think it is just an issue with the monitors
Interesting. That chart that I sent says that HDMI cannot handle 200hz, but like I said, I am glad the issue was resolved with a different cable and enjoy your awesome set up!
