The African Crested Rat.

Fun facts:
They are one of the only poisonous mammals, the poison is stored in their fur and it’s similar to how a porcupine is. However they are not immune to their own poison 😢

They are silent and nocturnal and really hard to study with their phantom like nature.

Theres a theory among those who study them that they show their back to predators to trick them into thinking it’s a skunk.

Evidence suggests they use medical plants to heal wounds, repel parasites, and to groom themselves.

Despite their delicate appearance, they are built like tanks and act like it. They have a funny tough guy strut.

The Malabar Giant Squirrel

Fun Facts:
They are the largest known squirrel in the world and can grow up to 3 feet in length.

They have some of the most vibrant fur colors of the animal kingdom. They can have purples, maroons, blues, oranges, and deep browns that just look beautiful.

Scientists believe these color schemes help them camouflage on tree tops in their environments but I call bullshit and think Mother Nature just wanted to flex how cool nature can look. That or some government made real Pokemon and didn’t tell anyone.

They are parkour experts. Most squirrels are and are capable of great athletic feats, but this squirrels large size lets it leap over 20 feet between branches and they rarely come down from the trees.

They are very chill creatures tho shy. Photographers in their area get little visits from these large curious and beautiful creatures.

They are native to India and thrive in their dense untouched forests. Their biggest predator is deforestation.

There are folktales in parts of India that say seeing a Malabar giant squirrel is a sign of good luck or a divine encounter.

BONUS FACT:
They sometimes purr when calm and happy but DO NOT EVER PET ONE as it’s a wild animal and is known to commonly tests positive for rabies.
