#Slowly expanding world borders in the resource end.

I went endbusting roughly 12 hours after the resrouce world reset. I flew around for about 50 minutes, almost to the world border on 2 diagonal (least traveled) axis. 0 Elytras found out of 6 ot 7 end cities raided. I could have just gone mine diamonds for that 50 minutes and bought 2 elytras, but luckily I have what I need.

So what if the world border in the end expanded slowly and randomly? At day one it could be 2k blocks in every direction, then, after a random and not publicly known/secret time the world border expands by 1k blocks and does so in several random intervals up until res world reset.

This would stop it from there being a giant rush on the end in the first place. / The end being dry of elytras in under 24h.
Players could explore and find elytras at their own pace/how they would in vanilla without having to engage in the economy or racing for it as soon as the reset hits.
This would also ensure that the supply of elytras is constant up until res world reset.
Hoarders would have to check the end every day to see if the border expanded or not and invest a lot more time to have a monopoly on the elytra market.

Idk if this is technically possible or feasable but I think this may be an idea in the right direction for the long term health of the economy.

this would be difficult and time consuming. we’re discussing solutions to this problem internally.

Well I have no idea about the technical side of this and what it would mean for the staff.

#

Alternative idea: I know that some servers have plugins making elytras respawn. What if the res end was smaller, so less elytras in the first place, but they would respawn at random, secret times. 🙂 Maybe more feasible than moving WB?

i think whatever fix we end up deciding on moving forward, a random change during the course of the month is the most unlikely, because it just becomes another chore on the new players of checking everyday, at which point the escapism block game becomes a job, which a vast majority of players dont want

#

but like refurb says, we are looking at several different potential options going forward atm

what about banning elytra flight in end for a certain time? we have homes and warps so it should be easy enough to get one with some dedication? not much is gathered in resource end besides elytras anyway so that way everyone has a similar chance, and it doesnt really prohibit much end resource gathering?

buzze has previously suggested that, and its something thats being considered for sure

I've been able to find elytras late in the month, but maybe I'm just lucky

Yeah you're probably lucky; players who don't need them go raid it on reset day to sell in Spawn.

It'd be great to offer a balance; you should be able to buy items if you don't want to do the work. At the same time, players who want to have vanilla gameplay should be able to. Also you know, joining on the second day of a reset shouldn't mean no late game items for at least a month.

I like Ghast's thinking, making the availability consistent/unpredictable would stop the gold rush of reset day.

Similarly the Buzze/Grey no flight for a week angle is compelling. Makes it hard to do the clean sweep we have at the moment, pushes sellers onto an equal playing field with flightless players.

Yeah there needs to be a better solution.
I’ve been collecting as many as I can, enchanting, signing and then giving them away as a middle solution for flightless people between buying or searching endlessly. (and also to keep them out of the hands of sellers lol aldentegoose )

Honestly i’d prefer outright banning items like elytras from being sold.
Either give away the ones you collect or leave them for people to find. (there is the secret third option of hoarding them but that’s just mean).

#

Elytras are a pretty unique case. Pretty sure that’s the only item people rush to collect upon world resets.
Or at least it’s the highest priority.
If it were to become devalued, the rush at world resets would probably fall off greatly / equalize out to the same rush as the nether and overworld.

#

could even extend the time between world resets, cause elytras seem to be the only reason the resets happen so often.

#

Bastion raiding would probably become the next standard since that’s the next most valuable loot next to the elytra.
I’ve gotten all of my netherite from bastion hunting at the start of resets.

This is being brought up quite a lot so I'll list the options I can feasibly get done

Random Loot Respawns

  • End city loot randomly respawns every few days
  • Random times
  • This is per-player, so they same person cannot sethome at an end city and get 15 elytras over a month

This Suggestion (gradual border increases)

  • The overall size of the world would still be the same, however it'd initially have a smaller border and gradually go to full size over the first few days of reset

Dragon drops elytra

i'm neutral to all of them, lmk yalls thoughts though

I think dragon drops makes elytra too common and we have to hear the global sound of them being farmed

dragon only drops the elytra for a character one time - you cannot farm it

I think a bi-weekly reset rather than a monthly reset would help quite a bit.

reset is next tuesday, one will be implemented by then

random respawn on top💪🏻💪🏻 consistent elytras coming in that way if a new player joins and is like i wanna find one instead of us having to say "wait till next month😕" we can be like yeah there should be some within the next few days
