You could host it in one of the resource worlds, so that no land can be claimed.

The idea is actually awesome, but loads of people spend 95% of their time in claimed areas. For it to be really be fun you'd need to be vulnerable even in those areas, which seems like a pain to set up. Having to leave those or for this event be in other world doesn't feel organic enough, idk.
With that being said, still, very cool idea, I'm all for it.

Couldn't you do this by building a "hunger games map" for example, and then just hosting a competition on X day?

Claims can be pretty large, so just find an area of the map with fun terrain, claim the land that'll be part of the competition area, and maybe build a wall or dome above/around it? If you want players to be able to dig and build you can just turn that on, otherwise you could build Vietcong tunnels and towers and stuff yourself

if you dont wanna build a giant wall doing it on an island is prolly not a bad idea, but idk how many large islands there are.

And ofc to make it easier to hide and seek in a smaller area (compared to the entire map), using elevators to jump from cave to floating island to underground again etc would prolly be fun 🙂
