lmao
-Big chungus in 3!
-Dude, that was a testicular prolapse...
-Fuck. My bad, im still getting used to the new calls.

So what are pugs like for players who aren't very good but willing to learn? CTF was never my jam but I'd rather learn to play CTF well then not play Tribes at all.
Pugs can be rough to start at first. Unless you're really pretty good at a specialized role, like; running fast and consistent routes for the flag, using the sentinel class to spot and snipe cappers and offense, ridiculously good at chasing cappers with thrust/nitrons... Unless you're one of those roles, there's a good chance you'll play an offense role.
But, we're always happy to get more people involved, and it's pretty straightforward to get better.
Moreover, we're pretty desperate just to get a game started a lot of times, so it's great to have new players show interest and jump in.
@lyric shuttle I recommend you read Dodge's guide on playing pugs.
And if it seems a little much, keep in mind we play Mixers every weekend Fridays and Saturdays. And it's the same game of CTF, but a lot more relaxed in many ways
@lyric shuttle mixers are a great starting point to get into some more organized play too, and more laid back. IDK if you've participated before, but mixer games are on Friday and Saturday evenings (NA time). But most PUG players are pretty welcoming especially if you're willing to learn.
ok so I typed that up and by the time I finished, @icy goblet had said everything, but I just posted it anyways so whatever
welcome to the server lol
Ideal. Appreciate it!
Define very good
To put it, its semi-competitive. Everyone wants to win and tries their hardest too (most of the time) I think for the most part, if your open to listening and learning you will have a really good time. Mixers are definatly more chillax however, (to my demise) they remove a lot of the arsenal the game offers like chain and hitscan which makes it a more "honorable" style of play where midairs and splash damage is they way you damage peopel
Up to you how you want to play. Try both, see where you fit in
@jaunty jackal for myself it means I haven't gotten a grasp of how to go very fast yet, so routing, capping or chasing are out of the question atm. When I have played ctf I did my best to med defend or hof.
@next oasis is limited arsenal why for some of the classes I've made, the third weapon doesn't work?
Yeah we play in the Game of the Year edition which was like 2012 tribes
2 weapons, and 9 classes
yeah it brings classes back
👍 makes sense. As said above, Dodge's Guide to PUGs(on his website) is a good starting point, but if you've watched any streamed PUGs that's useful too.
The TribesLauncherSharp has downloadable route files, if you want to try running routes you can follow those routes(they're shown in dots with self-impulse markers). That's a solid start.
And then, if you're good at communicating(simply by being good at talking), that's a really good start because learning what is worth communicating isn't too hard.
Have you played any PUGs in the past?
I played one in legions overdrive, did one BEML season on a team (not a pug but still competitive CTF exp.) & nothing competitive in Ascend.
I'd recommend adding if you want to try out the game, just try to dodge the negativity and people complaining about stacked games
People will say it's stacked even if we are 6-6 in overtime
No chain and hitscan sounds like a Juggernaut's dream. 🥰
how do you call Raindance routes?
I'd argue that that Raindance is one of the only maps Dodge's style of route-calling is correct on
hmm
oh yeah, Raindance has a flat top. well whatever
I'd call a Front slightly more left
and say there is no back left
because stand to stand
front right is at the corner of front and right
fair
not sure what you mean by stand-to-stand !back-left
I think back-left is just left, and front is the path from the common spawn to the flagstand
that is, I'd say the front is the center of the average O crash route
and I think that's how we should call fronts
often, that is the same as the line between 2 stands
Over the big hill is left, yes
but along the inner outer corridoors, that's a front
or a front left
It's always according to the cardinal directions of the stand and how they relate to the enemy's stand.
How is it there?
I have never played an organized game there, but I am pretty sure I already know what front is
the majority of any enemy offense skiis across map, and they approach at the gentle slope that meets the flagstand. this is the front.
I'm willing to change my view on this. I've done my research.
And the main route with rock bounce that comes at the rear barrier effectively acts as a back-to-front as much or more as the one coming in from the rear turret hill.
@fluid mountain @viscid atlas
Sorry which map?
Raindance calls are cemented, the way I suggest calls is for maps people make up the directions on (Bella, Terminus, ect.)
fair
map in Q is Bella
The problem is more so that people struggle to agree which is back or side on those maps rather than if it's leaning towards X orientation.
For Bella, I'm basing the large part of my opinion on a wiki page that said "The front of the base has an entrance and vehicle pad."
It's easier that way since it's written somewhere already, even if it's disagreeable.
front of the base, not front of the stand
the stand is on top of the base
despite the excessively tall tower ceiling, I think base and stand need a distinction on some maps
kata thooo the bases are pointed away from each other
What are those BE directions??
Yeah I think Moth hit the bottle making the BE ones
huh
This is some seriously cursed shit
Thank god I only ever sniped for moth on DX, even she can't fuck those directions up
I mean even on ds the two fronts have a 50+ degree difference
if someone tells me an arch route is a left im gonna stop hoffing
I do that everygame xd
i second this
routes should be called according to the hofs default orientation
which direction do you look on default
assuming perfect spotting, the angle im most likely to get approached from by offense
which is towards the gen entrance on be therefore making the old calls optimal
fair
