Got an oldie. Guardian dragon sku 02453, an oop metal Weibe with some aquatic features.
I keep seeing jewelry artists using alcohol inks on bare metal to create colorful patina effects, and this is one of the few metal dragons I have that's not primed. If it fails, I can wash him in isopropyl safely.

It looks incredible, but I've been reading the lightning as stitching this whole time, and still kinda do. Which I thought was neat as a Frankensteined dragon, but might not be what you're going for.

Yeah I've cut out a few of the bolts and varied the length a bit more. Im going to add some red glazes to work on the glow effects

Started on a Chaarondar leg. I’m hoping this will still read as a white dragon. Blue scales are supposed to be like ice crystals.

I was originally imaging more pink base layer, but this “berry” tone matched my dark grey first scale color.

Thanks! I paint with cheap craft paints (CraftSmart), so over the years I’ve to lean in to a style that works with saturated, thick and chalky paints 😆

I haven’t gotten particularly far, but at least the leg is done. I was worried it was going to look too red, but holding it up against my red dragon I think it’ll be distinct enough despite sharing many of the same colors.

Current progress on my “white” Chaarondar. I regret how dark the berry red undercoat and probably should have gone with something pinker but I’m committed now.

Also my toddler was very sweet and decided to help me paint my dragon while I was busy feeding her baby sister. For now I think I’m going to keep it, it’s not too noticeable and it is kind of sweet in a destructive toddler trying to “help” kind of way…

Now, for premium dad points, save that t rex as is, keep it forever, preferably on display at your workplace, and tell anyone who asks that kiddo painted it without telling them kiddo was 2 at the time. If they ask, give current age of kiddo, even into their 20s and 30s.
My dad has a rock i painted in rainbow blotches at age 5. He kept it in his office until he retired. He liked to tell his coworkers I painted it as a gift, and I was 25, or whatever current age.

What did you use for the shade? On the reddragon?

A mixture of pure black, holly berry, and an old GW mechrite red on the black side and Naggaroth night and mechite red, dusted with a bit of frosty blue, on the blue/white side.

I still have a long way to go and under a month if I'm entering her at Reapercon.

I use all craft paints (Michaels CraftSmart). I could get you the paint names if you are interested, it was really simple just a basecoat and a dry brush highlight.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to finish mine-- life got way overwhelming in the last few months and I've hardly painted, much less painted a whole dragon!
