Most of my collection is now B5 or B6 with less on the earlier stuff which may make it harder to find a match, but of course it will also get me painting some of the older stuff, so I will see what @silver monolith has to say on whether we go ahead or not.

I too went ham! I have Core Set, Sullenhall, Green Griffin, Denizens, Briarwood, Hakir, Orcs, Lizardmen, Bugbears, Gnolls, Rotstump bog, deep ones, talons of witnerfell, phoenix egg, brinewind pirates, slaughterwaller, archons.

Working through a set seems like a good approach. I'm least keen about Briarwood, but everything else sounds fun.

Ah! Time slipped away. I’ll post ours tomorrow afternoon. I kept trying to add more detail to make the lighter chest region stand out more. I did not succeed.
On a side note, how’re y’all getting such great pictures of your models? Feel like I keep washing out mine or something.

I do what Jes mentions above here. Sometimes I can also get decent results with my phone camera, but I prefer my digital camera. The thing that helped me the most was using a black background, a bright light, and lowering the exposure.

On my camera, I set the exposure compensation dial to -3 when I'm using the black background and it looks more authentic to what I'm seeing.

On iphones you can lower the exposure by tapping to focus on the mini, and when the yellow box pops up, you tap the sun symbol and slide down or up. I adjust until it looks closer to real life. Some phones have a tendency to oversharpen and exaggerate every little brushstroke and piece of dust which is a different can of worms.

Take this with a grain of salt as I'm not super savvy on photography, there may be a better way but this has been working for me.

Oh wow! Thank you. That’s some good advice. I only have the iPhone camera, sadly. Though mention of a tripod caused me to consider using a phone stand to stabilize it.

The other thing I find useful is a medium grey piece of paper in the picture, to allow the grey reference point of the photo programme to reset the colour spectrums. You can then crop it out later so no one sees it

X.X I messed up. I’m so sorry. I should have just called it a few days ago.
There was an incident at a regulated entity and I had to spend about twelve or so hours doing air monitoring and then totally forgot about submitting when I got home. Just woke up from that coma and (lol) woke my partner up when the first thing outta my mouth at 1am was “Oh f@&$.”

So I had originally thought to do the lizardfolks all in different colors, but now I am thinking that they won't look cohesive together if I ever end up DMing in person again. This has put me at a loss for picking my paints for the shaman x.x

I am thinking of doing it more mystical colouring and nice purple and fluorescent yellow / green. With a manic eye. My philosophy is that being a spell caster they have been gifted the powers and so stand out from the rest of the tribe. Also the psychedelic rock gecko is many bright colours and a naturally occurring creature

I received advice a couple months ago about layering from a professional. But trying to achieve it has been a Dunning-Kruger nightmare. Hoping to round out of this competency curve soon. Skeletons might be a simpler model to practice these layering techniques on.

Having had two lots of eye surgery in the last month and still have limited vision out of one eye, I have really not had much desire to do much painting, so I am going to step back from doing duo’s and trio’s as I don’t want the pressure. Thanks for this trip it has been fun and pushed me to improve.
