Much like the Eastern thread, I'm going to dump a bunch of vehicles that I think would make for some interesting mediums that I believe would fall into the Independent tree.

Some basic rules though as to why I would consider some tanks independent and others Western/Eastern. This mainly affects modified tanks built for export.
If the tank is designed for a specific export customer in mind, I would argue that it's an independent tank if that tank doesn't fall under the traditional East/West dichotomy. For example, and we'll see it shortly, there was a French proposal for a 120mm T-62 upgrade aimed for Egypt, so I consider that independent.
A similar upgrade for a Type 59/T-54/55 appears to not have an intended target, and as such would be Western.

Our first tank is a Leopard 1. Specifically, a Chilean operated Leopard 1V upgrade with additional upgrades. The most notable difference to any other Leopard 1 that I can think of is that one of these vehicles test-fired an Israeli LAHAT missile.
As such, I would put this in Era 3.

This is that GIAT designed 120mm T-62 aimed for Egypt.

I do not know exactly which French 120mm gun was to be fitted. Could be an early AMX-32 design or the type fitted to the Leclerc.
Probably the former.

There is the M60-2000/120S, a M60 with abrams tech such as the 120mm smoothbore gun, as well as upgraded armor, which was intended for export to other countries

#

As well as another version with an Abrams turret rather than a M60 turret

#

It was intended to be used by turkish forces

Unfortunately, both are post-99 to my knowledge.

I'd argue that they fall into the Western tree too, as I don't think either were intended for a specific target, although no doubt entered into the Turkish Sabra competition

#

The Oliphant Mk1B Optimum was a further upgrade to the Mk1B, featuring technology from the TTD Testbed.

As far as I know, this was built in 1999, and was tested in 2003. Unfortunately, budget concerns lead to the less advanced Mk 2.

#

Some more SA vehicles that I don't have huge amounts of information on.
Two T-55's, a M60 and a Centurion upgrade. The upper left vehicle looks like what the Enigma was based off.

Era 1 would also need some attention, hence this Sherman variant.

Based off one of the Israeli Sherman's, this version is armed with the IMI 60mm gun, a remarkably powerful weapon for the calibre.

Ambassador, swedish heavium that i think would fit better in CW than in WW2

Taiwanese M84A2 with ERA

#

For gameplay reasons, I think it should be up gunned to a 105mm.

Or it could be a super armored but really slow era 1 tank with really meh gun

Era 1 doesnt feature ATGMs, which the ERA is meant to protect against.

#

The ERA itself doesnt do much to AP based ammo.

#

It would make the hull much harder to pen, but the turret would still be a pretty easy pen for most non-HEAT rounds.

What about the m51 super Sherman

I am not sure how feasible an Indian tech tree would be, but I do know that it would be an Independent.

The Mk 2 Vijayanta is an upgraded version of what was basically the Vickers MBT Mk 1, equipped with a new engine from a T-72 and some composite armour developed for the Arjun project.

Four were built, but the project was cancelled in 1997.

I would argue that this is an Era 2 tank.

An Indian tree is very possible

#

I already made one

#

AMX-40E4

#

This was the last AMX-40 variant designed after the AVS2 that was supposed to be for Egypt before the whole project got canned for the Leclerc
It is essentially a French version of the Osorio P2 (they saw the capabilities of the Osorio P2 and wanted to replicate some design points for their own tank to make it more appealing)

#

Was projected to weigh 50 tons maximum

A Finnish Comet tank equipped with a 20 Pounder gun.
I imagine it was a one-off, as Finland was already operating Charioteers at this point

#

Although we don't have a Swedish tech tree just yet, we have a few premiums.

One vehicle which would unequivocally be a premium is this 120mm Testbed. I believe it's actually a Swiss Centurion that has been modified to fit the Rh-120 L/44.

#

This particular vehicle is a Vickers modernised Pz 57 converted for trials by the Swiss.

Specifically, it is a Centurion capable of firing early APFSDS rounds, unlike standard British models.

I believe at least one other was built, and it was aimed towards Sweden and Switzerland. Neither adopted it

Could the m51 super sherman be put in era 1 ?

I mean I see no reason the M1/M60 hybrid couldn't be added as a Mercenary anyway even if that wasn't the case

The Jordanian M60 Phoenix looks amazing with it's ERA.

#

A bit modern but it's an M60 at its core

Israeli M48, captured by Syria and then sent to Russia. Counts as independent enough?

This list is not complete without mentioning the Beradini MB3 Tomoyo.

# proper stump BZT works fine

I wouldn't say it works fine imo. It does have a hard hitting gun and ok armor. However, if the map is big or the normal wolfpacking is happening then it normally gets left behind... If they added rockets to it, then I would say it fits better in cw.
