#Should camo equipment be allowed on heavy tanks?

While normally one should generally support increased options, this option I just can't really get for almost all heavies as the base camo if the tanks + said actual bonus of the equipment just leads to a meh value in the first place.

I can think of maybe like 3 or so heavies that could in theory make use of them (Vk 30.01 H really).

I wouldn't be surprised to hear others be a tad confused to see heavies use binos and camo net.

Just wanted to hear some debate between the freedom of choice vs. Well it being a very dubious decision.

#

Mostly I think it could be removed and many wouldn't notice it.

But then why not buff it so it actually makes a difference? Perhaps a special version that has a downside for actually be a notable increase in camo?

I'm not so sure on the moving camo equipment, but the net I wouldn't oppose a buff to it (though I'm leaning to a buff to it in general)

heavy viper
#

Personally, I would say no.

#

I can see an arguement for binos for heavies, but not camo equipment.

I have a camo build on my machine and is7 and it seems to work pretty well actually

heavy viper
#

Granted, not all heavy tanks have 0 still camo factors, but the point is the same.
They have such low base camo values that adding the camo equipment effectively does nothing. Any perceived bonuses for mid to high tier heavies is more of a placebo than anything else.

sick elk
#

I think superheavies should definitely lose them. The amount of sniping E-100s I've seen with that equipment that think it makes them a sniper

umbral wind
sick elk
#

Using spotting for a chief or something like that does something. A camo net on a E-100 is useless

umbral wind
#

😭🙏

heavy viper
# umbral wind Wouldn't say all heavies but most

For example, the IS-7 had 6.61% still camo, if we were to increase it by 5% (which I think is the imp. concealment) it gets 6.94% still camo.
The moving camo goes from 3.31% to 3.47%.
With camo net the still goes to 7.27% and the moving goes to 3.64%.

(My assumptions were twice as high as they actually were)

#

That is assuming that heavy tanks recieve the same bonuses that other classes do, which I know they dont. I just cannot remember the values each class recieves.

It adds diversity to tanks if we keep this, So instead of having a normal Is7 we can have an IS-7 for stealth, ramming, durable modules and so on, Soo I say we keep them

pale prism
#

Keep it.. It's their tank, so let players set it up the way they want it. If someone doesn't want it on their tank, then they don't have to add it...

They shouldn't get it a heavy camping the base is nothing but a burden to their team.

Light tanks already get outspotted by TDs because most of them are getting better and better view range

#

We don't need a camo net buff to make that experience even worse

odd bay
#

The only time I'd maybe be okay with camo net buffs is if TDs got view ranged nerfed

#

Which I think should happen anyways

CW TD having on par with Meds if so so and depends on the TD.
WW2 it also depends. Most tier 10's having 390 or 400 is dubious and i could see argument having 380 instead for some.
Stuff like the Kanon 90 still only have 360, but its also a light tank half the time so i could see argument for it to have been buffed. VR for TD's is certainly a discussion but with how much verity there is in the class.

Its my tank and my money, so i want to keep it. I like how it looks, even if it does little. But not dire how effective it really is, doesn’t matter as my call.

native elm
#

Remember guys making a stealth build tank doesn't mean it's for camping it can also be for repositioning around flanks without being spotted

odd bay
#

Not the appearance stuff

odd bay
abstract valley
#

I will sometimes use the camo net on heavies as a filler if i don’t have enough silver or just have a slot to fill and no other obvious choice. Also, i often like to take very long range shots at times and camo net does help a bit

native elm
#

Well taking detoured paths like driving through trees and bushes

#

Can definitely lower chances of getting spotted

odd bay
#

Putting camo net on your heavy tank makes you an actual detriment to your team joeidk

native elm

#

I put camo on everything, so what. I like the look. Seems to me , germans used it on tiger 1 and 2 a many times. Why would they if it was no use and why would you be a detriment to team, if you live a little longer to fight?

If you can't afford equipment outside of camo net, you have bigger problems on your hands

I definitely don't

You should explain to me how to use camo on my heavy tank

Just put Camo on and know that your chances of not being spotted are higher

You mean higher

native elm
loud vapor
#

The difference between a heavy tank with and without camo net is genuinely at best 4 meter difference, it makes no actual difference in any meaningful gameplay, I think itd be fine to completely remove it as an option so people don't accidentally think its a good piece of equipment to use

native elm
odd bay
#

4 meters is the amount my tanks moves if I even tap the joystick

#

It literally does nothing

@odd bay look at his profile for one second

Dude his bio says goat of wot console

#

Doesn't that make it obvious

native elm

My bio doesn't get to determine the facts of Camo on heavy tanks

odd bay
#

I'm just gonna leave it on the note that I asked you to tell me how to use camo net and you couldn't do that correctly

#

After implying I was too stupid to know how

native elm
native elm
native elm
#

That implied wrong doing not dumb behaviour

odd bay
#

"If you use it correctly, which you probably don't."

#

You said it, not me 😂

native elm
#

That's wrong actions not behaviour

#

"If you use it correctly, which you probably don't." Means you don't use it right??

odd bay
#

And why would that be?

#

You said it yourself. It's self explanatory and easy, so if I can't use it right

#

That makes me...?

native elm
#

Well maybe that could be down to your play style

odd bay
#

This guy

#

You're funny

heavy viper
# native elm Flanks aren't always close to eachother, this can also mean map flanking, taking...

View range is better because it'll increase the range at what you spot enemies and doesnt rely on enemies not running camo equipment.

The Tiger 1 has 1.49/0.74% (423.28/401.95m) still/moving concealment.

When using camo net the camo will look like this
Still/Moving
423.28/401.95m -> 423.28/382m
1.49/0.74% -> 1.49/0.77%

With Advanced Concealment
Still/Moving
423.28/401.95 -> 412.69/391.90m
1.49/0.74% -> 1.52/0.75%

You will not see any practical difference with 20m/0.03% boost of still concealment with camo net, or a 10m/0.01% camo bonus with advanced concealment.

#

0 + 5% is still 0

native elm
#

Interesting

#

Then using camo equipment and view range equipment will make for a good tank

heavy viper
#

No

#

Camo equipment does nothing for heavies.

#

View range is fine

native elm
#

It's does 5% ?

heavy viper
#

Only camo net

#

Advanced concealment is 2.5%

native elm
#

Seems like enough

heavy viper
#

It isnt.

native elm
#

Well I sure am glad we have 2.5% instead of 0%

heavy viper
native elm
#

Heavy tanks on mini maps are good unless you're on komarin

#

Only when on big maps the equipment will be active

heavy viper
#

And again, it wont be noticeable.

native elm
#

Actually it will be less noticeable

heavy viper
#

It wont.

native elm
#

Less noticeable doesn't mean a big difference or small difference it just means a difference

heavy viper
#

10m doesnt move the detection circle on the minimap. 20m is so small unless you are looking for it, you wont see it.

heavy viper
#

Camo on heavies makes no difference.

#

Again, you are increasing the camo factor percentage by less than 1.

native elm
#

Well no Camo on a heavy also makes a difference

heavy viper
#

Thats right. It makes a difference because you are using better equipment.

#

Camo equipment on heavies does nothing.

native elm
#

It does something, which is why people use it

heavy viper
#

No, people use it because they do not understand the mechanics behind it.

#

Nor do they understand the math behind the increase.

native elm
#

All they know is that the Camo is helping and that's nice to hear

heavy viper
#

They are ignorant

#

Its a placebo

native elm
#

Well If it makes the morale of the player base stay strong then it's a keeper for the people, well serving it's side effects

heavy viper
gray plover
#

I wonder if it drives anyone away when they don't understand why they are getting stomped or have to constantly see their teammates running the worst equipment possible and sniping in a superheavy

heavy viper
#

And also making the team weaker.

native elm
#

Well that depends on who you're versing

#

If they are using the equipment right or not

heavy viper
#

I can say I will stomp every heavy tank player who is using camo equipment 10 times out of 10.

#

They are using 50% of their equipment options.

#

2 slots instead of 4.

native elm
#

Not if there 3 marked like me :3

heavy viper
#

I can.

#

And will.

#

You are hampering your tank by using camo on a heavy tank.

native elm
#

You are also giving it 2.5% more Camo

gray plover
native elm
#

Sometimes

#

Are on wotstars?

gray plover
#

yes

native elm
#

Look were it got me on the leader board

heavy viper
native elm
#

I don't know tell me?

heavy viper
#

1.52.
Now whats 1.52 - 1.49?

native elm
#

A positive number?

odd bay
#

And they're*

#

A tier 5 doesn't amount to much

native elm
#

Yes that's because that tank make 60% of all my battles

#

More than all my teir 10s combined

heavy viper
native elm
#

Like I do with the O-Iexp

native elm
heavy viper
#

Not even close.

native elm
#

What is it then?

heavy viper
#

Its about 13%

native elm
#

Well I guess it made 60% of my memories, because how good I was with it

pale prism
native elm
# odd bay Oh no, a tier 7

Yeah the ones that are matched up against teir 8s all the time, so the odds were against me but I still 2 marked it

#

So I was basically a tier 8 with 850 hp

feral parrot
#

Running camo on heavy,s is certainly a choice of all time

#

Literally a detriment to your team doing that

native elm
feral parrot
#

Fascinating anyways

odd bay
#

Tier 5

#

Accounts for nothing lol

#

You're competition by WN8 are 9 year olds grinding their first tank

feral parrot
#

You're literally putting camo on a super heavy my guy you ain't noticing any difference

#

Better off putting turbo rammer optics and maybe spall liner or something

native elm
native elm
feral parrot
#

Also low tier,s are just bot central

native elm
#

I've posted videos of me getting first in teir 7 matches to make it so everyone doesn't just say a farmed bots

feral parrot
#

Congratulations being best in a +2match

#

But uh idk wth that has to do with this topic

native elm
#

I run stealth equipment on O-IEXP, so this is to show that there is more to being a heavy then blocking shots

feral parrot
#

Lmao

#

Literally no

#

Tell me where are you when playing th oi

native elm
#

All types of maps

feral parrot
#

Ment how your playing it because you know what the entire purpose of a super heavy is it's being in the front

native elm
#

I use the stock gun so I can also fire indirect shot at people to save my team from going out

native elm
#

I follow the snipe the same health as your tank before breaking though the frontlines rule

native elm
#

If it's not a rule then I invented it

odd bay
#

There is a reason your stats at tier 10 are significantly lower than at tier 5

feral parrot
#

Not how the game works

#

Like at all

native elm
#

Because play teir 10s less?

native elm
feral parrot
#

So you primarily stay in low-mid tier,s

native elm
#

Yes 5 to 7s

feral parrot
#

Funny enough I used to do exactly the same way back

#

But now I just play cw

native elm
#

I also sold all my era 2 and 3 tanks just to have fun in era1

feral parrot
#

But anyways camo on a heavy tank honestly shouldn't be possible it literally doesn't help you or your team at all better off making you gun better or various defensive aspects better

feral parrot
native elm
native elm
#

It is if the last time I played one was last year or couple months ago

native elm
#

Anyways camo on heavies will always have a down side and upside and we have to accept it

heavy viper
#

No

#

It doesnt have an up side

glad trail
#

Reminds me of when Raibot and Paingod were on stream and playing the Mauerbrecher with Binoculars and camo net JustKekU JustKekU

native elm
#

Happy people seems like an upside

heavy viper
#

They'd be just as happy if they ran 2 pieces of equipment instead of 4

native elm
#

With passive effects

#

A big misconception of Camo on heavies is that people only use 2 equipment slots, so tell me is this based on experience

heavy viper
#

Tell you what?

native elm
#

Do you run 2 stealth equipments?, because there is no way you just straight know what they have.
So this leads me to believe that you know this from experience

odd bay
#

Running binocs/camo net on a heavy is essentially using 2 slots

#

You can sit in spawn with your camo net, meanwhile I'll take map control and lock you in your spawn

glad trail
#

What benefit is there to running camo on a heavy to the damage reduction equipment and vents JustKekU

You’re getting spotted anyway KEK

native elm
#

Another misconception is that camo heavies camp spawn

heavy viper
glad trail
#

The tanks that actually have the balls to leave base will be spotting for you anyway

heavy viper
#

Using 2 pieces of camo equipment + 2 other equipment on a heavy tank is functionally the same as running with 2/4 of the equipment slots used.

native elm
#

Remember the Camo doesn't have to fit the tank it has to fit the environment

heavy viper
#

The camo equipment isnt making you harder to spot...

native elm
#

It is making it less harder

heavy viper

glad trail

#

All I can say is thank you, keep playing like that

native elm
