Wargaming, it's time to start valuing its audience. Where on earth do you think it's a good idea to sell 30 chests for $75? 90% of the time you get useless 2D commanders and only a 1.5% chance of getting a tank, with a 0.3% chance of getting the tank you want. In other words, you spend over $150 for a chance to win a tank, sometimes not even that, and you only get 60 2D commanders that you can recruit for 250k silver. "But they're not the same commanders," you might say. Are you really willing to spend $75 to get a bunch of commanders that just change skins? Well, I don't think so. It's time for Wargaming to go back to selling tanks in the store and not in chests that you have almost no chance of winning.
#Enough with the commander's chests.

I honestly don't even know why Wargaming opened this page for suggestions and feedback when they don't pay any attention to any of the players' suggestions. It only serves for the community to argue all the time, nothing more than that.
Commander's Chests are designed for getting commanders, not tanks—it's literally in the name. If you are looking to get tanks, I would recommend waiting until regular chests are available. As for the community, if the chests didn't sell, they wouldn't have been continued.
FWIW, I'm not a fan of them, but I am not the entire community so my opinion does not and should not be considered as the opinion of the entire community.
There's the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles chest and the Lunar New Year chest, man, just giving a bunch of commanders (I really wanted to get the Technodrome chest). Are you going to tell me that's not a chest designed to get tanks? They put the tanks there so nobody's going to buy them. Of course it sells, that's why they keep doing this crap of selling a chest that gives you several commanders before giving you a tank. Stop trying to defend this mercenary company.
always needs to have someone defending the "really good decisions" from wargaming, it's awesome.
Not defending it merely stating that, if you're buying chests with "Commander" in their name, don't be disappointed when you get commanders.
Commander chests and licensed chests are two different things; now I'm not one of the developers so I cannot speak for them, but when it comes to collaboration contracts, there may be restrictions on how things can be sold or given out; this may be the case here.
If it is some contract obligation, they should avoid lootbox exclusive collab sales in the future.
This is where the saying "Speak with your wallet" is all about. From a financial standpoint, the chests are probably successful so why would they stop? I get it, FOMO is a serious problem, but if enough of the community stands together on this stance, maybe things can change.
i think thats mostly the point of posts like these, draw attention to a practice we dont like and hope the sentiment is shared
I have my doubts that wargaming see any of this posts
I get it and in all fairness, OP didn't specify that he was talking about the TMNT chests so I didn't know he was talking about them.
As someone who speaks with them almost daily, you'd be surprised—you'd also be surprised on the silent majority opinions.
I've been playing this game for 12 years and it's extremely rare for them to listen to the community, except when they want to nerf a tank.
Considering there's been a change in ideology and personnel over the past few years, things have changed since the days of old. You should also take into consideration that changes take time; they need time to brainstorm, design, test, analyze, retest, etc. There's a reason why we have road maps that span months.

I phrased it that way to say that the chests only give commanders; official commander chests really only give commanders and are sold for gold. Now, those 30 chests for 75 dollars—you just had to think a little about what I was saying; it's a matter of interpretation.
Unfortunately, I don't have the prices for individual chests memorized, so I couldn't have identified that you used the wrong name for the chests of which you were wanting to discuss and also commander chests are also sold for money as well as gold. Also, there are numerous people who convert gold costs into their currency to give weight to how much something actually costs, so seeing you speak of dollar value doesn't give more info of which chests you're talking about better than using the name they were given, which you did not provide.
Commander chests are not sold for real money or gold, and I was mistaken in saying that they don't give premium tanks; they do give them a percentage. The same applies to the Lunar New Year chest. I ended up providing some incorrect information, but I don't know where you got the idea that commander chests are sold for real money.
Now I want to know, do you agree that selling tanks only in war chests doesn't make sense for the community? Especially since there are regions that can't acquire the chests (where I live I can no longer buy war chests and even if I could I wouldn't buy the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one), it would be much more viable to sell the tanks in the store even without a 25%, 10% discount or whatever.
Hmm, I want to say I saw some available in the PS store the last time they came through, but I'll have to double-check.
Yes, I am not a fan of warchest-only tanks.
It was a pointless discussion; we both agreed that selling exclusive tanks in chests is useless and only benefits wargaming.
Instead of just worrying about selling these useless chests, she needs to start paying attention to the community that's begging for tank buffs, new tank lines, and so on.
Well again, it all stemmed from the incorrect name being used. If you would have used the correct name for the chests, yes, the discussion would have been completely different.
Tbf, it's a free-to-play game. Revenue does have to come from somewhere. It is also a team working on the game so new content can come in while old content is updated.
Look, it's fine that the game is free and they need some source of income, I don't blame them for wanting to sell it. The problem is making something exclusive to a sale that will make you spend a lot of money. This game is becoming, or has already become, a gacha game, where you spend, spend, and spend for a chance to win something that isn't even what you want.
Like I said earlier, the chests may be a stipulation of the licensing agreement, we, the player, may never know; that being said, this game is pretty far from a gacha game seeing as earlier this year they released a premium tank that was earnable through a contract—they didn't even try selling it first, just straight to a contract.
Alright, let's try to keep this civil.
No
We are tired bro you win
Wasn't trying to have a "win or lose" situation here, sorry if it seems that way. I am merely trying to give a different perspective as a lot of issues people have can stem from having a certain perspective. Though I do want to make it clear that not all of them stem from it and those particular issues do need to be pushed up the chain.
I understand, regarding the chests, Wargaming could simply put the tanks up for sale separately in the store, even if it was for the full price of the tank. Not everyone has access to the chests, but they would have access to the tanks.
Anyway, have a good day, afternoon, or night.
And I completely agree, but because they are licensed tanks, they [the devs] are not the only ones who have a say in how things can be sold—look at the other licensed tanks for reference; most of them can't even be sold anymore. Now if it was one of the unlicensed tank that they made and did the same, that's a different issue.
I understand players have different views on how wg sells things. Please do not make it personal.
Good goy

@frozen nest Hi, just to comment quickly on 2 items.
We do pay attention to the feedback section and read what players are saying. Also wanted to clarify that Commander Chest can be sold for Real money or Gold. You posted an example of a Gold one with the TMNT Commander Chest only be available for real money.

Here is 7 commander chest's for real money, there is more. There has been 4-5 commander chests a year for real money for at least 5-6+ years now. Commander Chest's for gold are only something of the past 2 years. There has been far more commander chests for real money in that time period than there has been for gold. There is lots of variants of all our chests, some are for real money and some are for gold.

The man with all the data! Lol
I am not going to say stop selling commander chests. People buy them and some people like them. I will say change the name of them to make it more clear:
TMNT War Chests --> TMNT Commander Chests
While there are a lot of cosmetics in the chests, it seems like Commanders are the main thing of 'value' in them. So just calling them Commander Chests makes the most sense.
Reserve "War Chest" for the standard ones with tanks as the main drop of value. It seems some people don't look at the drop rates and other think that the commander chests are in the same category as the regular one. If it was a bit clearer, they are different, it would be better.
Technically speaking all our chests are called "War Chests", Commander Chest is sort of a like a "type" we use to describe what type of main content is. The only chest that has "commander" in it's name is the Commander Chest for gold (Which is still called Commander War Chest) - which the last one was a variant for Pirate day where some of the Hero commanders were replaced with a small selection of tanks. The more traditional "commander chest" for real money purchases is a variant that has been popular for a long time and openly we have changed very little (in some cased, basically not at all) since their initial release, and those are the ones things like the TMNT/WH chest are based off.
The naming scheme as a rule is "theme + War Chest", in this case TMNT is the thematic content so that is the name. Finding ways to make sure content, drop rates, etc is better and more easily positions/accessed for players is on our to do list - because as much as i'm sure some like to think we want to mislead it's overall a net negative to have a user make a purchase and be unhappy with it. Most unhappy purchasers do not repeat purchase, and the lifeblood of F2P titles is having people spending again and again and not just spending as a 1 off. So we want players to make as informed purchase decisions as possible and will keep improving our side of that where we can and in ways that make sense.
I am aware of this.
Go with "TMNT Commander War Chest" then. But really the War part could still be left out.
I am just trying to prevent a "war" by making it clearer what each War Chest is. I still have people telling me they "didn't get a tank". I want to respond, but don't, "Why would you? They are commander chests."
I would also change the order on lower "up-close look" list. Tanks are listed FIRST. It should be changed to the same order as the "possible content" list which is above it. That list puts 3D commanders first, then 2D commanders. Tanks are listed LAST.
Having the tanks listed first for the "up-close list" certainly could and does create confusion to the type of chests.
how much gold would the Ultra drop actually be?
value of all 4 tanks is 63k (16000 + 25000 + 11000 + 11000)
Thanks, wait didn't we got 84% gold return if we got one of these tanks that we already own.
Which means we would get 84% of 63,000 is 52,920. that's a nice amount I got to say
For the TMNT chest yes, it had an 84 theme in honor of the comic release year
We can have all the information about the chest drop, but just having the chance to get a tank I like already makes me want to buy the chest, or even a chance at a super drop of all 4 tanks. Honestly, this motivates the consumer to keep buying until they get the tank they want or the super drop. As a player, it's very frustrating to open a chest and only get commanders. One thing that could be done is to make the chest with a HIGH commander drop rate stop dropping tanks and create a chest focused on tanks, and even sell them in the WoT store. What about those who can't access the chests due to country restrictions but really want the tank? Do they just get sad?
