Now that the "Combat Package" of the Challengers is being added via the Challenger Mk.3, I think its time both the Challenger 1 and Challenger 2 get their hull updated. This would make their lower front plate not HEable by every gun in the era, as well as making it autocannon resistant.
The Challenger 2 in the picture is from September 2000, but it would have been developed before that date, and it is the same armor kit as the Challenger Mk.3.

This layout is clearly different than the package seen on newer pictures of the Challenger 2.

The tech tree Challengers definitely need something. They are over shadowed by premium tanks.

The tech tree definitely need a lower plate buff . I've auto cannon the lower plate of challengers . That shouldn't be a thing

As a Chally fanboy (my only era 3 heavies) I’ve been thinking this for a long time. A DL2F kitted Challenger 2 (as pictured) would be very welcome. This adds ROMOR ERA and Lower plate Chobham.

If they make em slower and give them this armor they finally be unique compared the Leo and M1. Right now it's just a bit better DPM at cost of all the ammo rack

Stats are always subject to change right up to the point of release. After that it gets a bit more difficult but still very possible
