Hello there,

I am making this thread to give my deeper personal thoughts and notices I have managed to gather in recent autoaim test. The reason for this being a new thread is that I didn't want to post this into already made thread as it is already overfilled with discussions that are not part of the topic.

The recent test has showed us that noticeable amount of community has taken this test very positively and would like to see this test becoming a future part of the game. The benefits the community saw were:

  • more skill dependent combat
  • increase in match times as people had to aim their shots manually
  • TDs were not as punishing to play against as they couldn't lock on instantly

But of course we definitely have to talk about the drawback or negatives other part of community saw in the test. These were:

  • troubles finding tanks in sniper mode due to outlines only appearing only if you are directly aiming at the tank
  • players were also a lot of times unable recognize whether the enemy is in the open field or behind cover again due to outlines
(personal) - I personally found it slightly annoying having to switch between 2 playstyles. One playstyle where I can use autoaim normally and then the other one where I had to switch how I play once again and engage in pretty much no autoaim allowed only manually aim shots.
  • (personal) - I also had struggled with muscle memory due to the fact that regular version of the game I can lock on enemy tank as soon as I see the enemy's tank info (Tier, HP, vehicle name, health bar).

Suggestions for future test
These are the suggestions I would have tried in future test:

    1. Apply the exactly the same autoaim mechanic as is above 200m to under 200m range this basically means to remove the 200m range threshold and make the autoaim work the same across all ranges
    1. Enable the lock on the enemy tank the moment player can see enemy vehicle info (above 200m sigma for vehicle info)
    1. Keep the sigma or area for outlines for sniper mode the same way as it is regular non test version so players can see the outlines in sniper mode the same way as before

This is the area in 3rd person aim where enemy tank becomes autoaimable

#

And this is area in the test above 200m where you start to see vehicle info. But the tank is NOT autoaimable and cannot be lock on

#

In the possible future test I would like this area to be basically the new area of when the enemy becomes autoaimable. I believe this is the area when use of autoaim is still meaningful and useful and at the same time doesn't appear as abusing game mechanic

Lets test the autoaim/lock beneath 200m and lets se how that effect the game

To be fair Slapfish has got a poll and only 46% of people like it and 37% hate it .

There should be a simple voting system on here that would take away all the arguing and would be plain for everyone to to see .

Given the current +/-1 test Auto aim has not been a problem in WWII mode.

Doesn't bother me much but if others and mostly everyone's having fun that's good then.

Lets's keep the conversation to the focused on the post

Hasn't happened once for in 2 days. In any event best Auto aim is left alone and wait until all the grand design changes are brought in. Revisit next year if required. It makes no sense to do anything now.

Just remove it over 200m and take it off Lights completely. Auto aiming makes them massively overpowered.

Or make rbrt give you less accuracy

Should not be getting snipe from a mf who isn’t even aiming plus the only people complaining are the ones who genuinely suck

#

The game even flames em too 😭

I would like to see lock-on only allowed in sniper mode and free aim only in 3rd person. I don’t agree with traditional auto aim. it seems to snap the barrel into position faster than the actual turret turning has. Okay, thanks.
