Let me gat this straight. We have to pick one god, then in order to earn an extra point in the challenge, we have to play him. And, if we move him to another tank, we gat charged 9,00 silver, and if we move him to another nation we are charged both silver and some gold. Do I have this right? And , if I have this right, why do you nickel and dime us to compete in a challenge? If I missed something, my bad.

you can use any of the viking/norse commanders. And by selecting a god you get that commander for free, you can then move it between any premium tank for free.
There is multiple aspects here where the design reduces/removes the possible cost to players, the rest of the system is how the commander system works in general and would exist no matter what. Also, an extra point... not the only point. You can still progress without using any specific commanders.

Most of what you say I understand. I selected Thor, and yes, he was free. However, the rules state that to get an additional point, I must Destroy 1 vehicle, got this and for an additional point I must deal 500 or more damage while using a Viking God Commander. Doesn’t that mean, I must play Thor for that extra point? Or do I miss what is a Viking ‘God’ Commander? I do see where I messed up on the silver, it’s a -9000 / +9000, a wash, but I still have to pay 60 gold to change nation.

Any viking or norse mythology commander can be used, so that is any that drop out of the Valhalla chest, previous commander or DLC commander chest's or Hildr or Ultimate Hildr.
So you can use any commander and get the other 3 points (1 for destroy, 1 for blocked damage and 1 for taking damage), to get the 4th you just have to do 500 damage while having any of the norse/viking commanders as your commander.
The gold for change nation is also just a general thing for commanders, it was brought in with the rework to commander a number of years ago. Before that they were nation locked.
