I just got a scourge from a tank war chest and it reset the counter, it's not listed as one of the epic tanks

Thanks, looks like the article was incorrect and we've asked for it to be updated. The Scourge is an Epic tank.

thing is I already owned that one

but did not own kv-4 kres., m26 t99 or magach hydra

I then got kv-4 kres a couple of chests later (nice bit of luck)

but yes, I got silver

I got the Scourge before KV-4 Kresl. when I already owned Scourge - that should not have happened

You own all the Epic tanks so you will get a duplicate. Kv-4 is a Rare tank
