So your arty change is just to eliminate the class and make them TDs.
To be clear I like the solution, but calling it anything other than "removing arty" is funny
I mean it's not removing arty class but it's a different way to aim
Plus TD tend to get good camo values with damage and 700-1300 alpha while this would have worse camo values and higher alpha like it used to have
It's direct fire, but without elevation assistance. You're removing the indirect fire core identity of the class
What if they were the only class to get true vision 😂

The arty in wt has a nice balance to it with how it's played and I think it would work on wot

Artillery fire is still a real world issue for tanks. Especially with laser guidance, don't change arty.
Real arty tanks don't act like what we have in wot not to mention this is a arcade game the arty is still a problem with what we got now so I do see this as a fix
Make them SPGs. Less accurate, lower shell velocity, but a bigger gun, bigger splash. Just for fortified positions

If they add an assault SPG I'm going to perish.
What they should do is revert it back to where they was originally where they had the high alpha but give them even longer reloads make the accuracy even worse in the end times longer and it would balance in my opinion because the way they changed the already they just made them even worse and more overpowered than they previously was I don't understand why they gave him more Health like it just doesn't make sense like they don't listen to the communities feedback at all cuz just imagine how this game would be if they actually listened to our feedback the game would be in such a better state
The health is actually neat, extra damage

The way the assault SPGs work
Is that they are basically offensive artillery
They have shorter range, and less damage than normal arty. But they actually get some armor, along with arty sights.
I mean we already have TDs and they have stupid good camo and some with armor to while the would just get a big gun
The main difference is that assault arty would behave like arty.
Can shoot over obstruction and stuff like that.
Arty 1.0 was a problem and 2.0 still is and HP buff I don't mind because it gives me more damage overall but this would be a fix I believe for both sides on those how don't like arty and those that do

I think the problem with arty is it's magic map view not arty itself. If we made it to where they have to scroll wheel through range finder and were told distance of enemy tanks on hub when spotted instead of a drone view of the map it'd be way better. This whole magic map view like a predator drone has got to go.

There isn't really a core way to fix artillery in my opinion.
Arty in wt Plays just fine but in only problem people don't like about it is that the only to kill/do any damage is to over pressure but wot doesn't really have that due to it being an arcade game so it should balance out
I don't really think artillery in wot is consistent enough to be any form of offensive.

I don't like the point and click gameplay.
Especially with how inaccurate they can be at times.
S-51 with 203 is both amazing and painful.
Tbf the s51 doesn't have gun depression and and with this fix art would be more accurate
That's pretty much how they are now but this gets rid of this sitting in the back but they get to do more damage
So it's a good trade

Artillery gets a damage nerf for the longer the shell is in the air. Remove the top-down view and use the other view. This motivates players to use the tank up close, but doesn't completely remove the option of long war bombardment for them. Think the Grom from PC. But with an artillery.
This makes them into a sort of battalion artillery

Hm. Yes. If it gets the switch modes, it'll be able to switch from direct fire to arty fire and back.

1: Interesting idea but as people pointed out, it will be like a TD.
putting away the indirect fire mode, But we don't have a way to set up coordinates it does that automatically for us.
2: As someone said Assault SPG's (well Sturmtiger's are one of these)
but the Obj. 261 v4/5 (technically a Obj. 260 hull so its wrong classed by name.
however I do think these are what a Assault SPG's are giving a unique way to playstyle. by being aware of angles. (Chems goes into this more)
3: I personally don't really see this happening, but nice touch either way
There used to be a glitch in a game that allowed you to do that but they patched it really quickly that was back on the 360 I remember you going to artillery View then you disconnect your batteries from your controller and you'll be in Sniper View that was the best way to shotgun people but it got fixed relatively fast

Hmm, what if in td mode the enemy wouldn't have the "arty is aiming" indicator but instead just the normal one for when a tank or td aims at you

Hmmmm I'm torn. It would solve anyone just nag hating on arties. However the uniquess of it goes away. Mabey a set of limited ammo that can be shot like normal but only a set ammount of times. Mabey give them and only them TV but keep camo low. A big blast is easy to see?
That part would be up to wg to decide on
I feel like things like this should be worked on in thier new game. Ive been hopping for a better war thunder world.of tanks game for awhile. Things as they are now they would never make a change like that so hard take like a serious option. I wouldn't mind something like that.

This whole post is a no. Just nerf them. Reduce module damage, can't full pen with HE, and the ap and heat can pen.

There are only 2 real solutions to arty being toxic. Literally halving (at least) the alpha with no other changes or removing the mechanic entirely.
Even at half the damage it will hurt a lot

Why not make Arty more collaborative? Meaning, nothing shows up on arty Map until a teammate targets an enemy using the in game com system. Then that tank shows up on Arty map, and they can hit that target. This would encourage team work and make being hit by one a result of the opposite team actively requesting fire on you
I target enemies I want team mates to hit all the time and hope Arty is paying attention to help knock out a threat.
This could work and help solve the problem. If no one targets anyone. Arty hangs out eating popcorn and hopes they win
Also more real to life. Arty does nothing until someone calls in fire support and informs the location where to shoot

That’s what spotting and radio ranges emulate already, just passively and built into the game

I still feel like all you need to do is change the arty view
To something that would actually require a skill
Maybe having a pinpoint accurate real time view of what you're hitting with a obstacle detector and travel time displayed so you can perfectly aim even at tank weakpoints with the only thing stopping it is poor accuracy probably isn't the best artillery system
Like literally no game does artillery like this, even those that have an arty like ability or ultimate in games don't do this because it's broken as all hell
The only game I can think of that gets close is bastions ultimate in overwatch, even then, it doesn't tell you the shell travel speed so wots arty is still better

It's more realistic plus I have the ability to still lob shots over hills but in a different way
Chems (PC player) made a good point about making changes to artillery to make it more interesting.
