Despite being a larger caliber it has lower penetration even with Premium ammo than the 20mm on the various Western Alliance tanks. It even does less damage with its HE than the smaller 20mm shells. It also somehow bounces off even Wiesels. Why is it just so bad?

Because it used to be too good having its big clip and fast intra clip it's direct competition fired at a third of it's fire rate .3 vs .11 when this released and it was the only usable chaingun as the intraclip killed the others it's been power crept by the marders and wiesels .06 intraclip which is almost twice that of the bmp2s and almost 3x for the bmp3s .15
I don't think I'd advocate for buffing alpha but a reload buff would probably sort the bmp2s issues and of course removing the stupid standard rounds and making the premium standard.

Although I will add the mli84m is a bmp with 30 alpha and .1 intraclip so I wouldn't argue with the Bmps getting buffed to be more in line with this gun half the clip size double the alpha although halfing the intraclip also achieves this maybe make them .06 also

It's not bad but compared to other alto cannon tanks with better pen nor better entry clip/atgm it just feels lacking

This new tank with the GAU-8 30mm gun from the A-10 Warthog has even lower penetration and still does less damage than the 20mm shells from anything else in CW. Why?
