I believe the tier 8 su-101 is in need of a buff, specifically its gun.
175 pen and 250 damage stock on a tier 8 TD isnt great.
After about 60+ thousand XP, it finally gets a decent gun. Its stats are 219 pen and 320 damage.
I suggest either buffing the stock pen to around 190 or making the level 4 100mm D-54S gun its stock gun.

It’s pretty good once you get it upgraded and 60k xp is not that much tbh imo I can get most tanks upgraded in a few hours or so. It also has really good camo and a good reload for the low pen and dmg per shot so that it balances out pretty fair

I do have a problem with the mm, but I should’ve said “one of the reasons” because there are still tanks it could face with +1-1 that would give it trouble.
Like the o-ho, orochi, t32, vk100.01 etc.

Only if you let those tanks get too close?! You can outspot and stay hidden long enough to take those tanks out pretty easily and quickly with the su-101. It’s a sniper support suppressing tank. If you’re having trouble penning whatever tank is in front of you try tracking them and hope you have teammates that have better penetration than you, but in my experience with that tank, I have had a 72% penetration overall, so I haven’t had much trouble with that tank. Wasn’t my best and favorite tank to play, but it seemed to perform pretty well imo.

Now when I get the big gun with 248 pen, yeah I don’t see myself having issues with it.

Get it upgraded, use your free xp that you have (if you have some) to get closer to that big gun; use premium shells. Premium shells you get 235 pen on stock gun, which is plenty. 330 pen with premium shells on the third gun option. Plenty of options and ability to get penetrating shots and dmg with this tank
