For the artilleries that have >45° gun elevations, there could be a mode selection where you choose the type of arc you want (theta or 90° minus theta) as long as it doesn't exceed your gun elevation. The small arc (theta) is faster but more prone to hitting obstacles, while the big arc (90° minus theta) takes much longer to reach the target but goes past many obstacles

Maybe have the hull rotation lock activated by default and use its button to swap between the modes

Isnt there t7 british arty with arc like that?
Because that can be pain where s nowhere to hide even with such a long shell travel time.
People would be complaining non stop

Most arties don't have that high gun elevations i think
