Currently Era 1 has the most 'balanced' lights in CW. Yes they can all circle you to death like any light. But compared to Era 2 and 3 Era 1 is great.
HE shells are inconsistent with slow shell velocity and most people don't carry much HE or fire it when there are other tanks with armor around. The Bulldong has wide tracks that cover most of its side with a small turret hit box when faced your way
Wouldn't say era 1 is great, the difference in speed between light tanks at era 1 and 2 respective to the heavies and mediums is much higher. Plus the high DPM of things like the FV101/FV107 and Bulldog combined with their speed makes them tanks that people tend to yolo with which rewards bad gameplay and ruins the fun for others. Especially new players
So you are saying don’t play the game because ignore this really helpful item? HE does splash unlike Heat and taking tracks off a light is a particularly good thing. You can do both with the same shot and cause other module damage and have a higher dpm. And you don’t even have to hit the tank—if you land next to it you can take its tracks off as well as damage other critical modules.

- HE will only take off tracks if you splash the sprocket/idler wheel
- By the time you have tracked the light with HE, you've ran out and he's repaired his tracks
- Splash radius of anything below 120mm is not enough to track reliably by hitting the ground
