I respectfully disagree. I think the challenges are fine. If they get too difficult, many won't be able to contribute.

Some earn ops are too difficult. Instead of challenging player and making them get better, they seem to have the opposite effect.

Some Players simply can't do it. They end up getting desperate and actually play worse. Or they just try to get is as many matches as possible hoping they randomly get a completion. Either way game play gets worse.

I can't remember what the specific challenge was but at one point it was inspiring teams of half light tanks that would yolo all over the place trying to fulfill some requirement or other. Matches were miserable for a couple weeks. I prefer the challenges right now.

Nice statement without evidence. Problem then becomes making points in progressive challenges. In addition, I would sure like to know how many new players would agree that it’s too easy.
Perfect example: I don’t play enough to get the Long Haul challenge we see weekly. Do I try any harder?………nope

What would be some examples of skill based challenges that are not accomplished by having unlimited playtime? Per match challenges maybe? Do X in a match for X consecutive matches?

The intersection does not exist between non-exclusive and challenging to one percenters.

Kill ops are terrible for gameplay—already a premium contract out with several stages.

I hate the spotting challenges. You'll see a light yolo out to get his six spots for the day and die thirty seconds into the match.

Your curve may be a bit steep there. I don’t see WG going for exclusive stuff. That last ranked was angry. Time is the enemy to some of the these and laziness to others. And not overload the mm with lights and stuff.

Some type of dynamic op —dynamic to the player would be interesting though. 🤔

Averages can be tricky with maps and mm. Average damage maybe. Kill 2 TDs a match—no TDs in a game. Avg spotting damage and no one shoots. 😬

An interesting read, reminds me the Forum days. The OP shows the Thanksgiving Bonus activity. It is literally a time based event designed to get players in certain countries to play during a short holiday period (rather than not play at all). WG uses a variety of activities to get players to 1. Just Play 2. Spend money (Gold) 3. Get players to commit to a time limited task e.g Contracts 4. Get players to engage with the game long term e.g. Seasons. All of these items require a task/s be it in game and/or player time. Some are not supportive of 'team play' as shown in some of the comments above. Some have been improved e.g. the Long Haul use to be 75 wins, now 75 top 7 places. I would imagine that the current batch of tasks /OPs etc have been steered towards 'easier' rather than 'harder' due to contracting core player base and high new player turn over. Over games have also struggled with this. Sadly I don't believe their is a simple solution but definitely worth discussing.

I mean if we got proper contracts for like 10k combined or like 5k assisting or other feats I wouldnt be opposed. Some proper challenges could be fun as long as time isnt an issue and the rewards are worth signing on to

the reward doesnt need to be tanks. It would be cool to have challenges for massive silver hauls, premium time, vouchers, or dare I even say gold or key cards

WG aren’t interested in making things difficult for good players, in fact it’s the opposite of what they want. They want players to play regularly, filling the queues in quick games, hopefully getting them hooked in to buy the “next great premium” tank. If the challenges are too hard for the vast majority of casual players will become disheartened and not bother playing. Challenges are mostly, incentives to reward you for games played!

Having said that, I’d like to see more optionality in challenge rewards. I.e Rather than give everyone the Earthshaker, give players their choice of Cold Steel tank (like the Monster Mash op)

yep pretty much. But credit where credit is due, WG have started to modify some Ops to improve game play like the Long Haul and some contracts like the Senlac. However this is the Feedback and suggestions section so it's good for players to view their thoughts /ideas. I know all my ideas are great 😎

Relatively speaking, they could have been the biggest contributor on the team given expected performance.

Not everything gets measured on the PBRS.

I asked about how many you would exclude before. If 95 percent that try for the op get the best reward, you ok with that?

When going down this road I thought you were headed towards something more individually dynamic for players—customized ops based on the players ability.

I would say our viewpoint difference is in the player reward spread overall. I don’t think what you have outlined will be effective based on the feedback from the last ranked regarding limitation of rewards.

I think you are confusing the last ranked done with the old ranked. People complained about old ranked being a grind whereas the last ranked was pretty much condemned for its exclusivity and format.

In general it’s bad to have tails wag dogs though. You in particularly indicated you hate the game so much that WG has to pay you to play it. Why should WG pay you to play? Why would you want to collect more stuff in a game you publicly claim to hate?

Some people do want that, but gun marks aren’t the same—different reward—unless you are saying you are only completing for some reward emblems.

WG statement addressed balance—not other issues. That’s WG position.

Why is it not as popular now? Because it’s not exactly sexy with WW2 being closer to the beginning of MTV than MTV is to today.

Add to that it is an OLD ANCIENT game running on old code with the associated issues; with 2 nearly duplicate games on other platforms; with an above average learning curve; with little really new dynamic content adding depth; old mechanics of tanks disappearing; some crusty maps; and terrible marketing/sales. Some of us enjoy actually playing it for fun despite its warts, but it’s not for everyone.

And believe it or not but the World of Tanks does not solely revolve around tier 10. You guys that complain about HE tanks seem to completely forget/ignore every tier below has them that most of us grinded through. The game wasn’t hysterically broken with that in 2015 or 2022 but they add 2 in six months to tier 10 and suddenly some are losing their minds.

Do I think getting more creative with the ops will strengthen the health? Yes—but they do need to appeal to most players—not just feed elites.

If it’s not time limited—does not get replaced, then at some point it stalls and you have nothing to do. If it does replace/renew, then essentially you’re just doing season rewards and their ops.

Side note—PC isn’t really growing either—particularly NA. Way down from what it was. And you know why PC is more flexible in changing engines and despite those changes it’s still down.

Back to the original comment about op difficulty. I think it is fine. I would allow Co-op to be able to complete at least some of them.

Why? There is a fair amount of player who simply aren't ready yet fot prime time in PVP. They are still learning and developing their skills. They struggle in co-op even.

Some players learn faster than others. Some it just takes more time in co-op. Let those still developing in co-op be included and contribute.

OK we have been talking about tasks, playing better and rewards. But quite often these are in conflict with each other. If a player is attempting a task it may not necessarily 'make/encourage' them play a 15v15 game better or for the benefit of the team they have been randomly assigned to. It also raises the point, what are 30 gamers doing in a battle? Are they just wanting to have fun? Are they chasing the next MOE for the tank they are in? Are they after a win? Are they doing a stage of a Contract? Are they doing Season tasks? Are they doing special OP's? Are they platooning? A possible solution to "easy tasks" is to have fewer and less conflicting things to do. Maybe.

I think some past ops have been spot AND survive. Not 100% sure. But often that is not a skill issue but a "not giving a crap" issue.

It’s very obvious what players will do,especially when an OP, or Contract is in play that requires spotting. The lights run around like headless chickens, with no desire to do anything but spot.
