Eyes Peeled achievement retired but remains on PS5 trophy list

After much back and forth between the Wargaming Player Support team, I was directed here to make an official post regarding this matter. For reference, to those with access, the ticket number is 142755080.

Currently, the "Eyes Peeled" PS5 trophy is unobtainable due to the retirement of the Ribbon System on December 15, 2020, namely "The Action Heroes update."

On that webpage, under the "Retired" category are both the bullet points for the "Ribbon system" and the "Eyes Peeled" achievement. Unfortunately for us trophy hunters, the "Eyes Peeled" trophy was never actually removed from the trophy list and is currently unobtainable. I only started playing WoT Console on June 2022 and was not aware of these changes, so I spent a good portion of my playtime hunting for all the trophies, only to be met by one that is unobtainable. This sample gameplay below could and should have satisfied the requirement for this trophy:

Wargaming, please correct this mistake and either remove the "Eyes Peeled" achievement from the trophy list as you intended, or bring back the Ribbon System so us trophy hunters can properly get 100% completion for World of Tanks Console. Thank you for your time and attention.

Hello, it's against Sony's policy to remove it. Any retired trophy's must still remain visible and on the list. Even in Ribbons were brought back, it cannot be earned as it was retired.

Hi what about Xbox? I was going to show a fellow player a rare badge "Lucky" from the early wotc days. It's disappeared from the list. I earned a couple of these. Even though it's no longer an obtainable badge, it should still be viewable.

Lucky was a Medal if I recall correctly and will still display in your garage stats page, just not the website.

there have been plenty of games where the conditions to earn the trophy were updated when game mechanics were changed to make the original earn condition impossible

so while the trophy can maybe not be removed, it should be possible to change the conditions required to unlock it

Destiny 2 did it, Dead by Daylight did it too, just two examples

the patrol duty medal would make perfect sense for unlocking this trophy IMO

Even though this is true it's still not a solution. As Zydoran mentioned, other games have implemented changes in the conditions of trophies to make them obtainable. WG should make an effort at a solution even if this seems like a small thing.

to my knowledge it was never achievable on the PS5 version which is its own trophy list separate from the PS4 version, so it is really strange that it was included to begin with - there's also plenty of games that have changed their trophy lists between versions (i.e. ps3 version, ps4 version, ps5 version)

i absolutely love WoT - really wish WG would do something about this so I can get 100% completion

I absolutely agree. One of the ways us players show that we really love a game is by getting 100% completion. I really wish that WG can fix this on their end as well.

And what about Zydorian's question? Changing requirements to obtain it? I know this "problem" means nothing to You but.. We trophy hunters like me or many guys from here even those who stay silent, worked many years to keep our profiles with 100% We mosty play games that we love to spend many hours like World of Tanks. PS5 users were not able to obtain it from the beginning and its quite unfair in my opinion, and because it is not possible to get a trophy for ribbons, it breaks many years of hard work..

It's a retired trophy so does not impact getting the 100% completion trophy.

Ok now I get why You told this.

Its true, You can achieve 100% trophies in World of Tanks but only in main game trophy set. For completion You get Platinum Trophy. That is correct

But some games (with WoT include) get a new trophy sets for new DLC/patch/season whatever You call it.

Ps4 version has 5 DLC trophy sets
Ps5 version has only 3 DLC trophy sets

You did not add for Ps5 last 2 dlc trophy sets because like You said its retired and not coming back anymore.
But in DLC 3 "Heavyweight" ps4 version has 1 trophy "play 5 battle in ranked matches", for Ps5 You did not add it to the list because it was unobtainable. The same for Eyes Peeled it was unobtainable but You added it... And its all about it.. That makes our profiles broken because we cant get 100% for everything

we would really appreciate if you could chat with the development team about the subject of changing the earn requirements for this trophy so it is linked to the new ribbon system - perhaps at one point sony's system or policy didn't allow for this but it's clear that it can be done now as many other games have done it

one funny example is the console version of stellaris - when the game launched, a portion of the trophy list was set up incorrectly in such a way that the unlock requirements for trophy #15 (for example) unlocked trophy #16, trophy 16 unlocked trophy 17, etc

it also meant that trophy 15 was unachievable for a while until it was patched - stellaris also has other examples of this where one of the later expansions greatly changed core game mechanics around planet management and all the relevant trophies were adjusted with the new mechanics in mind - some of the trophy descriptions even changed in sony's backend

i mentioned a bunch of other examples in a reply above - plenty of studios, both large and small, have changed the earn requirements for trophies in the past

honestly the fact that the PS5 version of WoT launched with a trophy which was never achievable to begin with seems like a "bug" if anything

It's under Sony's policy to keep the trophies there but the policy does not state the requirements to unlock it,assassins creed has changed achievements on the spot because of some LGBTQ+.....
Other games have made the trophies to automatically pop if they are not obtainable yet,and that's a fact......
So it can be changed 100%.......

I just dont understand why they deleted one unobtainable trophy from ps4 dlc and another they left to be unobtainable even after bringing back ribbon system which that is a requirement for it

This is not true if you count all trophy sets including the DLC trophies. I'm currently sitting at 97% because of "Eyes Peeled" being unobtainable. Gonna echo everyone's comments here by requesting a change in trophy conditions or somehow implement the requirements back now that ribbons have returned to the game, please.

I wrote to Sony about it but... Sony can only decide to remove the game from the digital store, they cannot interfere with the trophies themselves. Their only responsibility is to check the trophy lists and approve. It's all up to the devs after that point.

The funny thing is, the patch needed to fix these is only worth a couple of lines to code. It's become a joke.

For me personal a "retired" trophy is the one that you cant actually obtain for example game server has been closed - you cant play - no trophy, you cant login - no trophy.. You cant agrue with that. But in WoT? Thousands of people play Tanks and they say trophy is retired? Its first time ever I hear something like this...

I think they changed the trophy requirement for "Tanks with benefits" in the past, so I really don't understand why they're so reluctant about changing the requirements for unobtainables... Or even to acknowledge that changing troohy requirements is a thing

Yeah at this point it's quite clear that they're ignoring us on purpouse. Despite all the complaints they still didn't acknowledge that they CAN change a trophy's requirements, or they just don't wanna do so for whatever reason, also considering that some base game trophies had their requirements changed in the past (like upgrading a commander to 9 skill slots used to require a maxed out crew)

I'm pretty sure they won't remove it because some people got it before it was retired, and since it's not a priority there's pretty much no chance of it ever being changed. The only thing yelling about it seems to be doing is making max have to copy paste the same response an uncountable amount of times

It was announced a couple years ago that it was being retired and would no longer be obtainable. This was all done on purpose and is not a bug.

Yea, You released the game on PS5 without ribbon feature with trophy for ribbon feature. Give me any game title where devs putted trophy for feature that doesnt exist in the game.

I give You an example.

EA released the game called " Battlefield 5" and there was a trophy "Globetrotter" for completing map where Britains fought vs Germans. After few months they changed the map and replaced Britains to Americans. One trophy has become unobtainable. Many players asked for the fix and what? They said they will fix it! It took over half year but they promised what they said. Noone said anything odd like "retired trophy" only You.

I don't think reprogramming the trophy or unretiring it is outside the realm of what WG can do. I've experienced trophy requirements updated to reflect the current status in other games. So this is not entirely impossible even if it is low in priority. But again, as long as I'm playing and supporting this product, I will continue to want and wish for things from it. So still gonna keep hoping I can get 100% achievement before either the game dies or when I finally move on from it.

Where is the trophy for playing ranked matches? Ohh there is no such a trophy on ps5 list because You removed it and why? Beacause there is no ranked matches at this moment

It was not removed on PS5 as it never launched on PS5. The Ribbons achievement did launch on PS5 as retired. This was accidental but as mentioned previously, Sony does not allow the removal of achievements even if retired. They must always be displayed.

And please dont tell us You cant make it. Ive mentioned You an example it is possible. I can give you plenty of examples where devs helped to players by fixing trophies.

The conditions for popping the trophy can be changed or edited however(not the trophy itself),tons of games have done it.....it's true that a trophy CANNOT be removed.....

Some other games didn't do it and so there are trophies that are UNOBTAINABLE such as online trophies with game servers closing down....

But now that the ribbon system has been re-implemented the trophy should be technically obtainable because the conditions to pop it can be met......

Now if the development team DOESNT WANT to do it,that's another story....but to say that it's not possible when there are so many examples from other games.......

FYI In Assassins Creed Odyssey UBISOFT changed the name and description of a Trophy because "some people" found it "offensive"........

Ignore the mercenary achievements I know those are fine but even when I finally get them it and the ranked battles achievements are just there mocking me

Kinda excited that the eyes peeled trophy was discussed in last week's QnA portion of the developer Livestream on twitch. Some attention is being placed on it at least! Anyhow a bit late but this is my usual season post of meeting trophy requirement but no trophy received; this is for the Battlefronts season. I don't have a PS system /account however why not 'add/give/gift/include ' all retired what ever by default? So everyone gets one. It can't be earnt, you miss out on that BUT collectors can obtain a "full set". I would imagine the majority of players wouldn't notice or care they have it/them. It could also save WG time/$$$ as other items are sure to be 'retired' in the future. A cheap easy Public Relations exercise for WG.

As i previously stated because it has happened in MANY games like Assassins Creed and many other that had online trophies but the servers closed down,they changed the conditions for the trophy...

The conditions,name and description of the trophy can be edited.

Especially now that the medal system has been re-implemented into the game its just a hot-fix.....

Today on the developer stream QnA, Bam stated that there are talks regarding making retired achievements obtainable again in some form, that does not reduce their legacy, for those that have obtained them before.

He also stated that he used to 100% game achievements on xbox, so I'm glad he at least understands what it's like!

Anyhow, below is my usual seasonal post of meeting the trophy requirements for eyes peeled but trophy still not unlocking. Still hoping for a resolution and very much still enjoying this game!

Kept this thread alive since Nov 2022, hoping this trophy will eventually become obtainable and unretired. Finally during this Heavy Metal season, the eyes peeled trophy is brought back from retirement and now obtainable!!! I just got the trophy and now have 100% completed all trophies for WoTC on PS5. Thank you Wargaming! I will continue to enjoy this game and am looking forward to the rest of this season! Let this be a testament that the devs do listen, even if it takes time and things are not always priority #1.
