#How do I underclock my device

I would suggest taking a look at the tool TLP / TLP-UI, for linux systems.
High temps? I'd suggest looking into repasting the CPU/GPU (if it has a dedicated one). Since it might be an elderly machine.
Underclocking only partially solves it
It's a new one, i want to increaase it's life
You can just keep it on the Balanced power profile
or balance_power HWP state (same thing)
Or Power Saver
They do a good job at keeping CPU clock and wattage low
@hasty knot simply buy a better thermal paste and repaste gpu and cpu
you can search for your laptop model as to how to open the laptop and etc
it's pretty easy unless your laptop uses liquid metal
.....
oh
You can go into the UEFI setup screen and look for underclocking ig?
your pc is pretty new so you should be able to use OS based tools
you can look for those
it'll work for the GPU but im not sure about the CPU
you should also undervolt when underclocking because then it should be using less power
@hasty knot btw, you dont have to underclock your hardware at all because the hardware is rated to run at that clock for very long times and it'll last more than you think it will, my pc is from 2011 and it still works
oh no, laptops are not that configurable
yeah ik
depends on the manufacturer
maybe gaming ones expose some settings
yeah
but general purpose ones, nah
